For Hamabata, it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation. The LA native progresses by experimenting with a diverse selection of music and sounds- discriminating against even one form of music would be to allow a certain genre to govern a track’s potential. DJ Sensei Shunn holds his roots in the Southern California EDM scene where he began spinning and producing back in 2008. Since moving to Chicago, he has played at numerous venues throughout the city including Soundbar, The MID, and the first annual Spring Awakening Music Festival. His relaxed demeanor standing above the turntables suggests his previous successes and future potential are of little concern to him. Forever a student of the game, an open mind and passion for a good tune are the inspirations that drive Hamabata towards his ultimate goal-creating and sharing more of the music that he loves.
