Welcome to the The British Northern Soul ,our virtual club, spinning sounds from our Chicago base . We both wanted you join to us on our livestream sets as we share and play some of the sounds that we grew both grew up with. We found the music in different ways, for me things changed the night I walked into Catacombs, an underground night club in my home down in March 1973, for Janet it was when she heard the sounds of Motown belting out of the speakers at her local youth club. I was lucky enough to find & go to many of the other big venues , Va Va's , Samantha's & Wigan Casino to name but a few, Janet moved on from the youth club scene and was soon a regular at clubs like the Casino, the Mecca, & the Ritz, she often got to travel with Brian Rea, a man who has roots embedded in the Northern scene. I was able to write a book, its called “They Danced All Night",(The link is below) this book explains what it was like at each of the clubs I mention. Enjoy, thanks for being here with us x
