Double Deck Duo Stephen and Elaine Brophy arrived in Australia in 2005. Stephen hails from Warrington and Elaine from Jersey in the Channel Islands. Stephen was one of the original "Wigan Casino" goers in the mid 70's and collected vinyl from this period and has continued to add to their collection.
Stephen lived in Sydney during the early 90's where he played saxophone in swing bands and the Punk/Goth band " The Black Box". His favorite line is "I've never seen David Bowie but he has seen me!" referencing an occasion when David Bowie appeared at one of The Black Box gigs at the Evening Star in Strawberry Hills.
Since returning to Australia with his wife Elaine they both DJ & dance at Northern Soul and 60's mod nights in Brisbane and Nationally including playing at the Nationals in 2019 and 2021. We have played internationally now in the UK including Elaine’s hometown in Jersey and love uploading our eclectic soulful sets onto Mixcloud. Find us on YouTube as Sounds of Soul Brisbane
