An early admirer of the sound of 80s & 90s old school hip-hop and classic soul, Donavin began breakdancing in his youth. As an adult he continued to dance and became a regular at some of Manhattan’s famed nightclubs and underground events, including The New York Limelight and Sound Factory. A graffiti artist at the time, he would often bring his sketchbook to these events, get lost in the music, and draw into the early morning hours.
It was at the legendary Sound Factory’s after-hours parties that Donavin discovered acclaimed club DJ and remixer/producer Junior Vasquez. Soon after, he became a DJ himself and set out to develop his own mixing style, inspired by the underground vibe of the house music that ignited his interest on that Sound Factory dance floor.
In addition to Vasquez, Donavin’s music and mixing today is influenced by a range of notable DJs, including Danny Tenaglia, Murk, Victor Calderone, DJ Mag Cruz, Peter Rauhofer, Rosabel and That Kid Chris to name a few
