The first tape that got me into electronic music was Kaos Theory 2, especially Praga Khan's Injected With a Poison. This kind of energy drew me to Lakota nightclub in Bristol when I was a student there, particularly Friday nights which were banging hard at the time.
I then decided I wanted to DJ myself, learning on simple turntables and a mixer and managing some house parties, playing a 12 hour New Year's Eve set on the Millennium in which I tried desperately to push my own sound when most of the punters in attendance only wanted to listen to cheese!
I learnt loads from listening to Judge Jules, Pete Tong & Fergie on R1 at the time before becoming an ardent follower of Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren in the early 2000s. I dropped off a little bit after that before Mixcloud brought me back to life!
