Two days. One executive team. Zero sacred cows. Zero elephants in the room. This week our leadership team locked ourselves in a room for our quarterly strategy session — celebrating the wins, naming the challenges honestly, and charting the next leg of the journey for Thompson. Here's what I keep coming back to: strategy sessions are worthless if they're just applause. The real value showed up when we got honest about what isn't working yet — and got specific about what we're doing about it. 140 years in, our job isn't to protect the way things have always been done. It's to keep asking what the next generation of children and families actually need from us — and have the courage to build toward it. Grateful for a leadership team that shows up ready to do both: celebrate the progress and tell the truth about the gap. More to come. What Clemson taught me about culture that has nothing to do with football. Yesterday I toured the Clemson University football facility. I didn't walk away thinking about turf or trophy cases. I walked away thinking about intentionality. Every hallway, every meeting room, every piece of signage was pointed at one thing: reinforcing who they are and what they value. Nothing was left to chance. Nothing was decoration. Culture wasn't a poster on the wall — it was a decision made a thousand times over, in a thousand small details. Here's what stuck with me: 🔹 Culture isn't stated once. It's built into the environment, repeated until it's assumed. 🔹 Focus isn't the absence of distraction. It's the presence of a clear, non-negotiable standard. 🔹 The best organizations don't hope their values show up. They engineer the conditions for them to show up. In nonprofit leadership, we talk a lot about mission and values. But how many of our buildings, meetings, and onboarding processes actually reflect them back to our people every single day? Clemson didn't get their culture by accident. Neither will we. #Leadership #OrganizationalCulture #NonprofitLeadership #Intentionality #ChildWelfare

Good morning! 2026 is my 23rd year living in the Queen City. We moved here as newlyweds. Since then, we've put down roots and raised two sons, and enjoy a strong, diverse community - both professionally and personally. I have benefited from many mentor, peer and mentee relationships with women in Charlotte over the years. That's why I am really excited about this upcoming event, Women Building What's Next, benefiting Thompson as we celebrate our 140th year of service to children and families, and look ahead to the future and what we can do together. It's already generating a strong response among our supporters, and I'd love to see you there! You can find all the details below.

What does it really take to scale an organization responsibly? Our CEO, Will Jones, recently joined The Scaling Executive Podcast to share his perspective on sustainable growth in the nonprofit space. Some of what he covered: → Why leaders need the discipline to say no — even to good opportunities → How to evaluate growth opportunities against organizational readiness → Why leadership capacity has to be built before expansion, not after → How coaching, peer groups, humility, and a commitment to lifelong learning help executives grow alongside the organizations they lead 🎧 Catch the full episode on The Scaling Executive Podcast https://lnkd.in/eEXZqgu7 #Leadership #NonprofitLeadership #OrganizationalGrowth #ExecutiveLeadership
