  • After more than 135 years of serving our communities, we created Sentara's Transformation Office in 2023 to accelerate "One Sentara" — our strategic plan to make care simpler, more personal, and more affordable. Since then, we've launched more than 1,500 initiatives designed to remove barriers and meet people where they are. From school-based telehealth clinics to home-based primary care, we're redesigning healthcare around the lives people actually live. It's strategy becoming action. It's all of us, turning ideas into practical solutions, improving health every day. Hear more from Jenny Snodgrass, Vice President of Strategic Transformation, about the pipeline of change we're building across Sentara at the link in the comments 👇

  • This month, Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is celebrating one year of operation in its new hospital campus, and what a year it has been! 🎉 Our team has continued a legacy of care that spans more than a century in northeast North Carolina, while building something new for the future of healthcare in our region. Since opening our doors last year, we've welcomed 25 new physicians and providers, expanded access to specialty care, and served thousands of patients across a wide range of healthcare needs. Plus, the hospital earned Magnet with Distinction recognition for nursing excellence, a Gold Plus award for stroke care, a Platinum award for heart attack care, and recognition for excellence in respectful maternity care. These accomplishments reflect the expertise, compassion and commitment of our team members, providers and leaders who make exceptional care possible every day. As we celebrate this milestone, we're grateful for the support of our community and excited for what lies ahead. 💙

  • More than 400 children across Hampton Roads are stepping into the upcoming school year with new shoes, fresh socks, and a little extra confidence thanks to the annual Shoes of Hope event. 👟💙 Sentara colleagues were proud to join community partners and volunteers to help fit shoes, cheer on families, and celebrate the new school year with children served by ForKids. Thank you to every volunteer who helped make the day so special! Together, we're helping children take their next steps with comfort, confidence, and hope. ✨ #SentaraCares

  • Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States experiences a heart attack. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a critical moment where expert care can make all the difference. That's why we're honored that all 12 Sentara hospitals earned the American College of Cardiology's 2026 Chest Pain-MI Registry Performance Achievement Award for excellence in heart attack care. Plus, eleven hospitals received Platinum recognition, the highest award available. These honors reflect years of dedication by our physicians, nurses, cardiovascular teams, and registry professionals working together to ensure patients receive timely, evidence-based care and the best possible outcomes. For patients across Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, these awards signal something important: every Sentara hospital delivers exceptional cardiovascular care. Whether they arrive at a Sentara hospital in a major city or a small community, they can count on heart attack care that meets the highest national standards — every time.

  • We're proud to share that our own Tim Jennings has been named as one of this year's "Hospital and Health System Chief Pharmacy Officers to Know" by Becker’s Hospital Review (Becker's Healthcare). This national list highlights executive leaders "who are driving the future of pharmacy practice." Over 28 years at Sentara, Tim has embodied that leadership, growing our pharmacy operations from four hospitals to 12 while expanding into ambulatory care, specialty services, and population health, among other areas. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, Tim!

  • Collaboration, preparation, and training are critical to effective emergency response. Sentara Health's Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance recently participated in a large-scale emergency response exercise at NAS Oceana alongside military personnel, the City of Virginia Beach and other regional partners. The multi-scenario exercise was designed to validate emergency response plans and strengthen coordination ahead of the 2026 NAS Oceana Air Show. The training included simulated incidents such as an aircraft mishap, explosion, and emergency airlift, providing participants with the opportunity to test communication, coordination and operational readiness in realistic conditions. More than 200 volunteers and personnel took part in the exercise. We're proud of our Nightingale team and grateful for the strong partnerships that help ensure our region is prepared to respond effectively when emergencies occur. 💙 🚁
