Alex had one big moment he couldn't miss.💙 He was at summer camp and looking forward to delivering jokes on stage during the camp's tablet show. But his speech-generating device had stopped working. PROVAIL's team moved quickly to prepare a loaner device from our PNW Adaptive Technology Lending Library — helping Alex get his voice back in time for his moment on stage. We're sending a big thank you to our donors, whose generosity makes this kind of response possible. Every voice matters. Every person deserves the opportunity to fully participate. • Read the August Mission Moment: https://lnkd.in/ejXufMKk • Learn more about PROVAIL: https://provail.org/ • Buy tickets to our annual Powering Inclusion event: https://lnkd.in/etCkZ7Xi (early bird pricing ends August 31) #PROVAIL #MissionMoment #DonorImpact #DisabilityPride #InclusionMatters #AccessibilityForAll Image Description: A picture of Alex on stage delivering jokes at summer camp with overlay text that reads: "PROVAIL Mission Moment."

The Arc has created a simple explanation of these terms, what they mean, and why accurate language matters. “...ensuring the individual's needs, hopes, and dreams are incorporated...(with) the person with IDD at the center of those conversations.” At PROVAIL, this principle is at the heart of how we approach our work. The individual -- their choices, goals, and vision for their life -- always comes first.
Future planning can feel so big that families don’t know where to begin. In a new interview with Comcast Newsmakers, Katy Schmid of The Arc shares how to start small and build a plan around the person’s life, needs, preferences, and support system. You don’t need every answer before you begin, but starting the conversation now can give families more time to consider their options and prepare for change. What a fun way to celebrate Disability Pride Month! ⚾ On Saturday, PROVAIL clients, direct support professionals, leadership, and board members spent the evening cheering on the DubSea Fish Sticks. Our clients had a fantastic time hanging out with PROVAIL staff, meeting new friends, and enjoying a fun night at the ballpark together. It was one of those evenings that reminds us how meaningful it is to get out in the community, connect with one another, and simply have fun. We also loved meeting community members at the PROVAIL table, where we had the chance to share more about our programs and the work we do to support people with disabilities in fulfilling their life choices. A huge thank you to the DubSea Fish Sticks for generously donating tickets for our clients to make this special evening possible. 💙 #DisabilityPride #CommunityInclusion #Accessibility #Inclusion #PROVAIL #DubSeaFishSticks

Yesterday marked the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and PROVAIL is proud to continue advancing the promise of the ADA through its mission of supporting people with disabilities to fulfill their life choices. Thank you to the advocates whose vision and perseverance made this historic legislation possible—and to those continuing the work today. 💙 #ADA #Accessibility #DisabilityRights #Inclusion #PROVAIL #ADA #Accessibility #DisabilityRights #Inclusion #PROVAIL
36 years ago today, President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law, with AAPD co-founder Justin Dart by his side. The ADA transformed this country, giving disabled people unprecedented access to public life, transportation, housing, career and economic opportunities, and community participation. Before the ADA, many of us literally could not get through the (often inaccessible) door. We are so grateful for the moral clarity and perseverance of every single person who fought for the ADA. We must not take their fight for granted. Today, on July 26, 2026, Americans with disabilities' rights are gravely under attack. Dangerous forces - including the current federal government and several state governments - are trying to take us back to a time before the ADA, before our right to be in the community under the Olmstead v. LC SCOTUS decision, before Section 504. One of the best ways we can honor the ADA today is to fiercely commit to the fight ahead. Our community's power led to the ADA. Our community's power will also ensure that we never go back. Image Description: A graphic with the disability pride flag colors and a photo of the ADA being signed into law.
