Shaping the future of power and energy, one breakthrough at a time.

About us

Founded in 1990, LS Power is a premier development, investment, and operating company focused on the North American power and energy infrastructure sector, with leading platforms across generation, transmission, and energy expansion solutions. We thrive on figuring out tough problems. In fact, it animates our purpose: solving complex energy problems to improve the world. Since inception, LS Power has developed or acquired 50,000 MW of power generation, including utility-scale solar, wind, hydro, battery energy storage, and natural gas-fired facilities. Through its transmission business, LS Power Grid, the company operates 7 transmission utilities, has built 780+ miles of high-voltage transmission with another 400+ miles currently in construction or development. LS Power actively invests in and scales businesses that are meeting the growing needs of the energy expansion, including electric vehicle charging, demand response, microgrids, renewable fuels and waste-to-energy platforms. Over the years, LS Power has raised more than $77 billion in debt and equity capital to support North American infrastructure. Built on integrity, innovation and grit, our mission is to make lives better by creating a cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable energy future. For information, please visit www.LSPower.com.

  • The debate over who pays for power in the data center era has moved from industry conversation to federal legislation. The White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge, the Ratepayer Protection Act moving through Congress and new large-load tariffs taking effect across multiple states all reflect the same core principle our CEO Paul Segal laid out earlier this year: "households shouldn't pick up the tab for incremental data center demand." The good news is that workable pathways exist, and done right, data centers can get faster time-to-power and greater certainty, while communities get real investment, not higher bills. • NEWS: LS Power has entered into a definitive agreement with Constellation to acquire the Brazos Valley Energy Center, a 606 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle facility located outside Houston, Texas.   The acquisition expands LS Power's generation fleet in ERCOT, one of the most active power markets in the country. Combined with LS Power's previously announced agreement to acquire a 4,353 MW portfolio of five gas-fired generation assets in PJM from Constellation, the firm's national operating fleet will total approximately 14,100 MW upon closing of both transactions.   “Acquiring and optimizing proven assets is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to meet [rapidly increasing demand for electricity], and natural gas is well-positioned to provide the reliable, around-the-clock capacity the market requires.” — Paul Segal, CEO   Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/eTytgA-k   #ERCOT #GridReliability #Energy

  • Is AI-driven power demand a spike or a durable shift? Our COO Darpan Kapadia sees it as the latter. Capital is flowing into digital infrastructure at an extraordinary pace. From our conversations with hyperscalers and data center developers, it is clear that they are investing for the long term. But time to power matters more than ever. And AI is not the only force putting pressure on the grid — manufacturing growth, electrification and extreme weather are all pushing in the same direction across power markets nationwide. As demand continues to move up and to the right, LS Power is focused on building more of everything needed to meet it. • Last week, Marji Philips joined Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Laura V. Swett and Commissioners at a technical conference on PJM governance and stakeholder reform — an important proceeding for the future of the country's largest wholesale electricity market, serving 67 million Americans across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.   Effective governance can strengthen PJM's ability to act efficiently, while preserving the competitive market framework that has delivered reliable electricity and reduced costs to customers for over 30 years. That's the balance at the heart of LS Power's position: enhance transparency, improve stakeholder processes and preserve the board's ability to act independently.   The conversation is far from over. PJM's ability to act independently in support of reliability through competitive markets will be essential to keeping the region an economic engine for national competitiveness.

We're excited to recognize an important milestone in the journey to bring together OPTERRA and NORESCO today. With Carrier's announcement that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell NORESCO to OPTERRA Energy Services, we are one step closer to uniting two industry leaders in service of helping customers solve their most important energy and infrastructure priorities.   While the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, we know this forthcoming next step represents an opportunity to expand our capabilities in helping our customers modernize critical infrastructure – supporting the schools, universities, healthcare systems, local governments, federal agencies, and businesses eager to build resilience and long-term success for the communities they serve.   Just as importantly, this is about people. Throughout NORESCO’s 40+ years of history, the team has earned its outstanding reputation through the expertise, innovation, and dedication of its talented employees. Coupled with our Opterra team, we will be even better positioned to leverage our collective capabilities to help our customers modernize the infrastructure that enables communities to thrive, strengthens energy security, and powers many of our nation's most important priorities.   We look forward to sharing more following the successful close of the transaction. Until then, our focus remains exactly where it has always been: serving our customers, supporting our employees, and delivering outstanding outcomes every day. https://lnkd.in/gP8cuE2w
