Our Safety, Security & Parking team has been named one of just eight finalists nationwide for the 2026 Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) Outstanding Security Team Award. 👏 And this recognition goes far beyond health care. The OSPAs recognize security programs across industries, with this year’s finalists ranging from health systems to organizations such as Amazon Worldwide Security Operations. HH Health is one of only three health care organizations among the eight finalists. Their work helps create a safer environment for patients, families and employees while addressing a growing challenge across the health care industry: workplace violence. Over the past three years, our Security team has helped reduce workplace violence incidents by 28.3%, reduced workplace violence in the Emergency Department by 46% following the launch of Alabama’s first hospital-based Security K-9 program, and trained more than 11,000 employees in de-escalation techniques. Winners will be announced Sept. 13 at the OSPA Awards Ceremony in Atlanta. Congratulations to our Security team on this well-deserved national recognition! 🙌⭐️

Fresh produce and fresh ideas for feeling your best. 🍎🥒🍓 Our Employee Farmers Market received a wellness boost with our first-ever Perks & Wellness Fair! Huntsville Hospital offers employees a variety of health benefits, including a free Wellness Center membership, annual health screenings, a free subscription for the Calm Health app, an Employee Assistance Program, Arts in Medicine classes and more. The fair gave employees the perfect opportunity to learn more about these resources and how we can support their physical, mental and emotional well-being. A special thank you to our HealthWorks team and the Wellness Committee for making employee well-being a priority every day. 💚

At our Child Development Center, an on-site child care center for Huntsville Hospital employees and physicians, the first-week theme was Superheroes: “We are SUPER glad you’re here!”. Congratulations to Dr. Samih J. Nassif of North Alabama ENT Associates on earning the Focused Practice Designation in Adult Complex Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery from The American Board of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. This advanced subspecialty designation recognizes physicians with extensive experience treating complex thyroid and parathyroid conditions. It's another way we continue to expand access to specialized care for patients in our community. 💚

Dr. Petty knew he wanted to become a physician while working as an EKG technician, where his fascination with the heart and passion for patient care inspired him to pursue a career in cardiology and electrophysiology. Drawn to the Heart Center's reputation for innovative, patient-first care, Dr. Petty is excited to serve the growing North Alabama community. When he's not caring for patients, Dr. Petty enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, traveling, playing golf and exploring the Huntsville area.

Here is what makes this milestone so special: 📈 Continuing Excellence: This marks 16 consecutive years of AHA recognition for our elite stroke care. 🚑 Rapid, Life-Saving Action: In 2025 alone, our multidisciplinary team responded to more than 1,600 stroke alerts. 🩺 Advanced Procedures: The team performed 318 emergency procedures to dissolve or manually remove life-threatening blood clots, saving lives and speeding up recovery.
