Say hello to #TeamGEI Engineering Intern Audry Gerow! Audry is graduating with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering this December from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She joined us in May and will be working part-time for GEI in the fall from our Madison, #Wisconsin office. During her time, Audry has expanded her knowledge of #waterresource management and environmental compliance. She has worked on #dam and embankment design, dam risk analysis, landfill and midstream oil and gas environmental monitoring, helping clients comply with federal and state environmental regulations. “I was initially interested in GEI because of its wide range of expertise, especially water resources, and I’m glad I’ve been able to experience other aspects of #environmentalengineering that have broadened my career interests. I’ve had useful hands-on experience working on different tasks that have helped me better understand the process of projects. GEI has been a great company to #intern with, and I’m excited to continue working with them!” #youngprofessionals #careergrowth #JoinGEI

🎉#TeamGEI is proud to celebrate the grand opening of Biidaasige Park, #Toronto's newest #waterfront destination and the largest park to open in the city in a generation. Meaning "sunlight shining toward us" in Anishinaabemowin/Ojibwemowin, Biidaasige Park is a major milestone in the Port Lands Flood Protection Project. Featuring restored natural #habitats, trails, and community gathering spaces, the park creates new opportunities for people to connect with nature while enhancing environmental #resilience along Toronto's waterfront. #Congratulations to everyone whose hard work, #collaboration, and vision helped bring this incredible project to life! 👉 Learn more about GEI's involvement in the Port Lands Flood Protection Project: https://ow.ly/MK1150ZwIL2 #BiidaasigePark #TorontoWaterfront #EnvironmentalRestoration #FloodProtection #CommunityImpact

We’re celebrating all Professional Engineers on #LicensedPEday! Launched by the National Society of Professional Engineers in 2016, this day honors licensed engineers for their commitment to public health, safety, and community #infrastructure. Today we’re spotlighting #TeamGEI’s John Gareau, who recently attained his P.E. license. “I was motivated to get my license because I wanted to work towards taking complete responsibility for my designs,” says John. “Licensure represents the ultimate responsibility of signing and sealing plans and reports in #structural engineering.” To colleagues who are interested in pursuing their P.E., John recommends giving yourself plenty of time to study and prepare, and embracing the process as an opportunity to reinforce the #engineering principles you use every day. “Going through the process of getting your PE will make you a better engineer,” states John. #Congratulations John! #ProfessionalEngineersDay #EngineeringExcellence #ShapingTheFuture #JoinGEI

As water managers face increasing pressure to balance flood risk, water supply reliability, and changing hydrologic conditions, Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operations (#FIRO) continues to move from concept to implementation across the western U.S. #TeamGEI has spent nearly a decade working alongside agency partners to advance FIRO through #feasibility studies, reservoir operations modeling, decision support systems, infrastructure evaluations, and stakeholder coordination, supporting watershed-scale initiatives and helping organizations put forecast-informed water management into practice. This week, Roger Putty, Satya Gala, Ph.D., P.E., and Caleb DeChant will join approximately 150 invited participants at the 13th Annual Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO) Training & Workshop in La Jolla, California. GEI is also supporting the event as a sponsor. The workshop brings together representatives from federal and state #water agencies, local and regional water management agencies, and leading research institutions to share lessons learned, discuss emerging forecasting capabilities, and explore the future of FIRO. Presentations and discussions will feature leadership from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes (#CW3E), US Army Corps of Engineers headquarters and district offices, and other recognized voices from across the water resources community. As forecasting science continues to advance, FIRO is helping reshape how #reservoirsystems are managed to deliver greater flexibility, #resilience, and value from existing water infrastructure. #ReservoirOperations #WaterSupply
