Our summer internship program just wrapped up! CommUnityCare Health Centers Department of Education & Research hosted two interns from Southwestern University. Emma Ramos and Wenny Stein worked over a 10-week period, conducting statistical analysis and preparing a research poster for publication, facilitating experiential training for youth CHW trainees, developing an internal-facing Continuing Education Portal, and coordinating community-facing colorectal cancer screening events. We look forward to hosting three more SU interns this Fall. Keep an eye out for future internship opportunities coming this Spring and Summer.

🎒💉📓 Back-to-school season was all about connecting Central Texas families with care and resources. In honor of National Health Center Week, CommUnityCare Health Centers partnered with Bastrop ISD and Del Valle ISD to distribute backpacks and school supplies and hosted vaccine clinics at three health centers to help families get ready for a healthy school year. Across our school events, we: 🎒 Distributed 1,436 backpacks and school supplies to 553 families 💉 Provided 409 vaccines to 227 patients 🏥 Helped 26 patients establish care 🩺 Connected families with medical, dental and eligibility services We’re grateful to our community partners, volunteers, staff and H-E-B for helping make these events possible. 📓🖍️ We were proud to be part of Del Valle ISD's annual Back-to-School event! As part of #NationalHealthCenterWeek, CommUnityCare Health Centers partnered with Del Valle ISD for the first time to help students and families prepare for a healthy, successful school year. During the event, our amazing volunteers distributed 500 school supply tote bags, supporting 203 families and 984 community members.
