Creating pathways to health for all, responding to disasters, & ensuring access to quality care for 45 years!

About us

For 45 years, we have been a beacon of health and hope for communities worldwide, confronting pressing health challenges. Established in 1979, we are a health-focused humanitarian organization dedicated to responding to people affected by poverty, disaster, and inequity with life-changing health programs, medicine, and supplies. Our mission is to help people and communities access health in times of disaster and every day. We envision pathways to health and opportunity for all, driven by our commitment to sustainable solutions and treating people as they want to be treated. To date, we have provided over $20 billion in aid to 164 countries, including the US. We distribute over $900 million in medicine and supplies to 90 countries each year. Over the next five years, we aim to help 100 million people gain access to quality healthcare. Let’s make health happen for everyone, everywhere.

  • We’re grateful to The Community Fund of Darien for selecting Americares Free Clinics as a grantee for 2026! 💙 Since 1994, Americares Free Clinics has been a lifeline for low-income, uninsured individuals across Fairfield County, CT, providing free, high-quality health care with dignity and respect. In a region marked by significant income inequality, the Community Fund of Darien’s generous support directly strengthens our #Norwalk and #Stamford clinics, helping ensure that more neighbors can access the care they need. Thank you for investing in healthier communities and helping us continue this vital work! #Americares #Connecticut #Healthcare

  • Americares is responding to the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia, one of the most powerful earthquakes to hit the country in decades. Americares Colombia team members in Bogotá and Barranquilla immediately mobilized, connecting with local officials and health care organizations in the hardest-hit communities. Our team has arrived in #Cali, one of the hardest-hit cities, to assess urgent health needs and determine how Americares can best support survivors. Americares is prepared to provide medicines, medical supplies and emergency funding to help communities recover and restore essential health services. This is the latest in a series of devastating earthquakes affecting the region. Americares is responding to the earthquakes in both #Colombia and neighboring #Venezuela at the same time, working to help restore health services where they are needed most. • Local clinic staff make sustainable health care possible in communities around the world. They know their communities and patients better than anyone else. That’s why we work to support them with the resources and knowledge they need to make health happen. Dr. Richard Sacra, an #Americares Medical Outreach Partner, shares how every visit to #Liberia builds upon the last. With medicines donated by Americares and Dr. Sacra’s ongoing mentorship and training, local health workers gain new clinical skills, strengthen their ability to care for their communities and build lasting capacity that improves patient care long after each medical outreach ends. Through long-term partnerships and ongoing mentorship, Americares helps build stronger, more resilient local health systems—because the greatest impact comes from empowering the people who provide care every day.

  • Every day, we see firsthand how health centers meet people where they are, delivering high-quality care and connecting patients with the resources they need to thrive. That's why Americares is proud to partner with community health centers across the country to bring health and dignity to those in need. This #NationalHealthCenterWeek, we're celebrating the community health centers leading this way – like Mountain Community Health Partnership in North Carolina. Since 1947, MCHP has provided trusted, comprehensive care to rural communities where access to health services has long been limited. Today, MCHP serves more than 10,000 patients each year through four medical clinics and a dental center, ensuring everyone can access care regardless of their ability to pay. When #HurricaneHelene destroyed MCHP's behavioral health facility, #Americares was there to support emergency recovery. As the community continues to rebuild, we're proud to stand alongside MCHP with ongoing support for long-term recovery, behavioral health services and the dedicated staff caring for their neighbors. Together, we're helping build healthier communities, one partnership at a time. #NHCW26
