Toxic Workplace with Common Layoffs
Director
New York, NYGood mission and lower-level staff, but leadership is incredibly toxic and cannot manage the organization's budget. Layoffs are common with multiple rounds happening in 2025. Even if you do amazing work and get good reviews your job is not safe unless you are a favorite of those higher up. There is little...Show more - See more jobs

Truly the best place I’ve ever worked for and most fulfilling job I have ever had.
Grassroots Social Media Organizer
RemoteFulfilling work in spite of the somber nature of working with gun violence. The communication within was often changing but could be adapted to. Fair balance of attention to the emotional weight of the role. I really felt like I was helping to change the world for the better. The unexpected layoff...Show more - July 15, 2024
Great mission, full of people who care
N/A
New York StateIt has a great mission and is full of caring people. Work here if you want to make an impact on gun violence prevention because it is THE org doing the work. - January 24, 2024
No room for upward mobility
Associate
NycThere’s not much room for growth here. Most people leave within a year and I can see why. Leadership could not care less about you and the HR here is atrocious. They will never be on your side. Side note: Salaries will not match inflation percentages. They will barely pay you enough to survive. - August 7, 2023
Overall Good
Fundraising Intern
RemoteI overall enjoyed it, generally low key. People were very friendly and eager to help. Since I worked a remote job, I can't speak to what it's like in-office. - February 24, 2023
Wonderful place
Regional Organizer
FloridaYou make a difference everyday. Management is very professional and understandable. Sometimes it can be a lot of work but it is all worth it. I love this place. - January 21, 2020
A good place to earn some money while looking for something better.
Deputy Director, State Affairs
New York, NYEverytown for Gun Safety could be a great place to work. They know how to fight for gun violence protection reform, and they are incredibly well-funded. Unfortunately, Everytown's potential is frustrated by poor organization, poor communication between management and staff, and a culture of alcoholism....Show more - July 11, 2019
The worst management I've ever seen
Web Developer
New York, NYThere is no transparency in terms of promotion, salary level, or organizational structure. There is no org chart, and people get promoted multiple times between annual reviews, making you wonder how they got their promotion. The job descriptions are not available to anyone other than directors, making...Show more - January 24, 2018
Deeply flawed management structure
Organizer
New York, NYWorking at this organization was by far my worst professional experience. Major departments of this organization were virtually non-functional. Human resources department taking weeks to resolve basic issues and showing an obvious lack of enthusiasm/commitment to ensuring employees have what they need...Show more - May 29, 2017
