04 / The team behind Drag

The team behind Drag

Four people. 240,000+ users since 2017.

Drag started in 2017 with a simple idea: your team already lives in Gmail, so the shared inbox should live there too. We turned Gmail into boards the whole team could work from, went through Techstars Boston, and more than 240,000 users have signed up since.

We are small on purpose. There are four of us, so the person who answers your email is usually the person who can fix the problem. And we use AI for the work a bigger company would hire for, which is exactly the kind of team we build Drag for.

In 2026 we rebuilt Drag for the AI era. The same inbox now works for your team and your agents, whether those agents are ours or the AI tools you already pay for.

  1. 2017Email becomes a board. Nick Timms, Duda Bardavid and Breno Vieira turn Gmail into Kanban boards.
  2. 2019The team shares one inbox. Assignment, internal notes and collision detection, so nobody answers twice. Techstars Boston.
  3. 2020Customers stop being email-only. WhatsApp, live chat and a help center join the same queue.
  4. 2026Varley joins the team. Drag’s AI: Copilot, Agents, Intelligence and Assists, plus the Drag MCP server.
  5. Today240,000+ users since 2017. Rated 4.7 from 1,200+ reviews on G2, Capterra and the Chrome Web Store.

Humans and agents, one team.

Four people and 6 agents. The agents read, check and draft around the clock. We make the calls, and nothing they make goes out without one of us.
