Hailing from Croydon, South London, rapper Pozer has fast made his mark on the UK scene. His old-school grime flow, layered over Jersey club and drill beats, has cemented him as one of the year’s most promising artists – all achieved with just four singles and a breakout appearance on Mixtape Madness’ online video series “Next Up?”

Pozer emerged in 2018 with a succession of viral TikTok freestyles, paving the way for a pivotal year in 2024, when he released a string of singles which instantly landed in the Official Singles Chart Top 100. The songs have since amassed over 60 million global streams, with Pozer making history as the first UK rapper to have two singles chart simultaneously. Speaking to Dazed, the artist described his music as "a unique expression of my life and things that I’ve been through," a quality that has garnered support from artists like Stormzy, Dave and AJ Tracey – rap heavyweights who Pozer is on track to joining.

Founded in 2021, PELO TOSCO is the brainchild of Brazilian creative visionaries who have redefined São Paulo’s beauty landscape with their daring approach to hairstyling. But PELO TOSCO is more than a salon—it’s a dynamic, inclusive space where beauty intersects with community, self-expression, and social transformation. Motivated by the belief that hair is a powerful means of celebrating non-normative bodies and identities, PELO TOSCO challenges traditional heteronormative aesthetics, embracing the raw and unpolished. Their signature is styles that delight in opposing Brazil’s conventional beauty norms.

Located in Santa Cecilia, São Paulo, PELO TOSCO is both a sanctuary and playground. Here, the typical intimacy of hair salon visits expands so that PELO TOSCO becomes a space for creativity enjoyed by the marginalised of Brazilian society. Through their collaborations with artists, musicians and filmmakers PELO TOSCO have established an ethos that hair cannot be confined to the world of beauty, but should be seen as an art form in itself. The collective recently shot a documentary with Dazed, Sinto Muito, which explores hair as a technology of non-normative beauty in the world. Alongside their radical hairstyling, PELO TOSCO also hosts residencies with famed body piercer Ayê Marques.

Bisan Owda

Bisan Owda is a Palestinian journalist and activist whose on-the-ground reporting from Gaza has reached an audience of millions. She has won a number of awards in the last year, including an Emmy for her documentary, I’m Bisan from Gaza and I’m Still Here.

Documenting her life and surroundings amid the most brutal conditions imaginable, Owda’s screen presence is warm, engaging and often remarkably cheerful, but she doesn’t shy away from showing her moments of grief and terror too. In this respect, her work is a powerful corrective to the dehumanising portrayal of Palestinians so common in the West. “I’m still alive” - the phrase with which she often opens her videos - suggests not just resilience but the vulnerability of her position: embedded within a civilian population deprived of basic resources and subjected to intense bombardment, as over 123 of her colleagues have been killed.

By broadcasting on TikTok and Instagram, Bisan represents a new form of journalism which has the power to circumvent the biases of Western media. She has become, for many, not just a human face to the war on Gaza but a symbol of tenacity, courage and resistance.

Jackson Yee

Jackson Yee is a 23-year old multitalented artist from China, who has been celebrated as an actor, singer, and dancer. As a child Yee was discovered at a children's talent competition, rising to fame as a member of the popular Chinese boy group TFBoys in 2013. Yee has since carved out a successful solo career, both as a musician and actor. He was featured in Another Man China’s September 2024 issue.

Yee’s acting credits include the critically acclaimed Better Days (2019), where Yee plays a teenage street thug who offers refuge and companionship to a bullied student ahead of her entrance exams. This role earned him the Best New Performer Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards. He has also featured in other major films such as Nice View (2022) and Full River Red (2023). Alongside these accolades, Yee has built an impressive discography as a musician. His albums include Temperature Difference (2019), Backseat Theatre (2020) and his debut physical album, Liu Yanfen (2023). Yee is also recognised for his infectious hits “Fog Sea” and “Four-Character Song”.

Ryota Daimon

Ryota Daimon is a Tokyo-based artist known for his intricate and striking airbrushed works. Inspired by Taro Okamoto’s avant-garde paintings and cartoons from his childhood and contemporary street culture, the artist’s work moves fluidly between realism, fantasy characters, and street art. He’s been drawing since he was a child, and is a graduate of Musashino Art University in Tokyo.

Daimon has shown his work in Taiwan, Korea, and the US, and exhibited his largest solo show at Tokyo’s THE PLUG in 2024. In September 2024, he was featured in the group show Under Pressure. Curated by Mister Cartoon for Los Angeles’ CONTROL Gallery and BEYOND THE STREETS, this show highlighted the work of airbrush artists and airbrush from utilitarian craft to a regarded artistic endeavour. A multidisciplinary artist, Daimon has experimented with live painting too, and he has collaborated on designs for Heron Preston, and with brands including Nike, Marc Jacobs, and RVCA. Daimon's own original apparel and accessories are internationally coveted.

Teoni Hinds

Teoni Hinds is a London-based artist who produces primarily figurative paintings, but her practice spans film, photography, spray painting and more. Whatever medium she works in, Hinds’ images tend to be characterised by their depth, and by her ability to capture a vulnerability that exists simultaneously to toughness. For their wisdom, you often get the sense that her pieces have been created by someone considerably older than Hinds’ 24 years.

Recently her work was exhibited in the group show, A Friend Named Cousin, in Paris, and in, Collectivist, in London, and additional group shows have included exhibitions at Somerset House. Already her collectors include the musicians Wizkid, Little Simz and the fashion designer Hussein Suleiman, while this past October saw her debut solo show, Honey, at Chocolate Studios.

Eden Tan

Eden Tan is a London-based experimental designer whose work reimagines production processes and the lifecycle of materials. His Central Saint Martins graduate collection, On Borrowed Fabric, which used the first few metres from six borrowed rolls to create six unique looks, earned significant media acclaim and the prestigious L'Oréal Professionnel Young Talent Award. The collection spotlighted Tan’s innovative approach to design, exploring the sequence in which materials are manufactured.

Influenced by his background in hands-on craftsmanship and a family culture of DIY, Tan frequently emphasises direct reuse over recycling. He focuses on transforming whole discarded objects into new forms without losing their original context and history. Self-described as a tinkerer, Tan’s practice is driven by a genuine love for materials. It’s this that often leads him to create innovative material-driven projects: whether that’s building a silver gilded bodice, making bags out of motorcycle jackets or transforming discarded plywood found on the street.

Zineb Koutten

Zineb Koutten is a creative director, photographer and videographer based between Morocco and Europe. Crediting leaving school aged 17 as, “One of the best decisions I ever made” Koutten had a creative childhood which saw her paint, write and act.

However, it was launching her YouTube channel in 2015 that was arguably the making of Koutten as a creative. Initially making videos that documented her life and travel experiences, Koutten began using her platform as a way to collaborate with other Casablanca-based artists, creating a space for community and candid reflections on art making.

Ever-evolving as a creative practitioner, Koutten began working in fashion too, and in 2019 launched her freelance business, ShiningFromInside. Also her Instagram handle, here you can find Koutten’s work for the likes of Vogue Arabia, alongside her documentation of the every life of Morocco.

The Palestinian Youth Movement

The Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) is a transnational, grassroots organisation which has played a pivotal role in the campaign against Israel’s annihilationist war on Gaza. Comprising 14 chapters across North America and Europe, the PYM has mobilised hundreds of thousands of young people, supported the largest student protest movement in decades, and engaged in a range of direct action tactics, including shutting down roads, airports, ports and weapons factories.

PYM has achieved a number of concrete victories in the past year: its ‘Mask off Maersk’ campaign which targeted one of the world’s largest shipping companies, Maersk, for its role in facilitating the weapons trade – led to the Spanish government filing a lawsuit against the company and blocking it from sending weapons shipments to Israel from Spain. Against the resounding failure of Western governmens to put an end to the genocide, PYM’s example shows that networks of committed activists can, at the very least, impose a significant cost upon those who support it.

Mina Galan

Mina Galan is a Moroccan-Spanish DJ and stylist who is known for her boundary-pushing style and eclectic music sets, which blend her North African and European heritage. Galan’s distinct approach combines her own influences with the gritty energy of London, resulting in a unique soundscape that resonates in underground clubs and at fashion events alike.

Galan is the founder of trans femme forward party Club Stamina, which has featured the likes of Kelman Duran, Manuka Honey, Memphy and Vilano Antillano. Mina G, as she is known behind the decks, debuted at España Querida for Pride earlier this year and curated the Marc Jacobs store party line up, bringing together Taahliah and Sauzsha. In the fashion world, she caught the attention of Alté tastemaker Mowalola, recently styling the brand’s Rue Mowalola campaign. With each DJ set and campaign, Mina Galan draws audiences into her seductive universe, and they seem to find it impossible to leave.

Pedro Napolinário

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Napolinário is a photographer who is now based in São Paulo. Heavily inspired by his early environment, Napolinário first began shooting his friends as a 16 year old, creating a kind of diary of the music, colour and movement of his local neighbourhood.

Napolinário’s work is characterised by the sensitive lens through which he casts his subjects, and he is particularly concerned with the authentic representation of Blackness. “Coming from a marginalised place and having a marginalised body, I'm always trying to portray the Black figure in an enriched and careful way,” he says.

Since 2020 he has carved out a career in fashion alongside his ongoing documentarian work on Brazil, with these different parts of his practice sometimes overlapping too. For Dazed’s summer 2024 issue, for instance, he shot Brazil's extreme stunt riders, and he has worked with i-D, Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, Vanity Fair, and Forbes too.

James Robinson

James Robinson is a London-based editor, image-maker, stylist and art director who launched the independent print magazine Craic while living back in his hometown of Ballymoney, in the North of Ireland, during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021.

Seeking to capture the nuance and dynamism of contemporary youth culture in the region, Craic sidesteps easy cliches around the complex history of the North, instead acting as a vehicle for its rich visual lexicon, humour and the energy of a new generation. Issues have featured the work of local artists and photographers including Billie-Jane Stringer, Jack Farrar and Shannon Ritchie, while the second issue’s title “Catch Yourself On” riffed on slang and featured a spread on ‘culchies’ (people hailing from the region’s more rural areas).

The magazine’s activities aren’t limited to its pages either – this past summer saw Craic team up with Belfast’s AVA Festival to help celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Êvar Hussayni is an archivist and multi-disciplinary researcher whose work is in part focused on Kurdish genealogies, identities and feminisms. She also takes a critical view towards the practice of archival work itself, interrogating how archived materials may privilege certain perspectives, create biases in our collective memory and perpetuate colonial violence.

Hussayni is the founder of the The West Asian and North African Women's Art Library (WANAWAL), a project which eschews traditional approaches to archival work in favour of alternative and anti-colonial methods. Open-source and publicly accessible, WANAWAL has built up an eclectic collection which includes photographs, home videos, audio materials, fine art books and radical literature.

She is also the co-director of AZEEMA, an independent print magazine, platform and creative agency which promotes the creativity of women and non-binary in the Global Majority. Her work has been showcased in galleries around the world, including the V&A, Art Basel Hong Kong and La Friche in Marseilles, and she has lectured at a number of prestigious educational institutions.

Jawnino is an enigmatic London rapper who emerged in 2019 with his breakout release “It’s Cold Out”. Jawnino’s sound defies categorization, drawing from grime, garage, and jungle, and shaped by eclectic early influences including The Clash, Morrissey, and Boy Better Know. In an interview with Dazed, he described his music as “More like a UK sound rather than anything else, because it covers so many different UK genres…but grime is where it started.”

In May 2024, Jawnino released his debut mixtape 40 on New York label True Panther. Featuring collaborators MIKE, James Massiah, and Jesse James Solomon, with production by Brbko and woesum, and remixes by evilgiane and One Bok, the project captures the fragmented, gritty realities of London life. Jawnino’s verses drift calmly through an eclectic arrangement of rhythms, exploring themes of melancholy, escapism and the search for beauty in chaos.

Based in Sao Paulo, Juan Darte is a Brazilian singer, stylist and creative, whose works draws inspiration from the local specificity of Brazilian culture while at the same time being far-reaching and cosmopolitan in its outlook. As a stylist, he has worked with a number of trailblazing artists from around the globe, including Dutch-Iranian popstar Sevdaliza, Argentinian DJ Tayhana, Brazil’s own Duda Beat, and many more.

His own music is every bit as trailblazing as his work in costume: Pitbull Miumui - the EP he released in 2024 - subverts the stereotypically masculine figure of the “cowboy” to explore themes of vulnerability and power. The music is eclectic and innovative, blending together drum and bass, house, hip-hop and traditional Brazilian sounds, yet its sonic experimentation never stands in the way of the rich melodies and propulsive beats. His live performances incorporate bold costuming and mind-bending visuals, bringing the different elements of his work into one explosive whole.

Gabriel Figueiredo

Gabriel Figueiredo is a fashion designer and stylist from Paris. Since completing a Masters’ in Fashion Design at La Cambre in Brussels in 2017, he has assisted various high profile stylists including Georgia Pendlebury and Camille Bidault Waddington. Having worked as a freelance embroiderer for Maison Margiela, he founded his own couture brand Di Pino in 2020, blending his passion for the minimal with an eye for the radical.

Running his own brand has allowed Figueiredo to unite past and present. By incorporating his knowledge of Parisian fashion with a use of bold silhouettes and recycled materials, Figueiredo interprets how garments can reshape gendered identities. Paris Haute Couture fashion week 2024 gave him the opportunity to debut on the runway. With his outfits now worn by couture icons such as Lady Gaga, Figueiredo is working with the very people who inspired his vision.

Born Omar Sherif in Egypt, WeirDo is an artist who makes vast paintings, drawings and garment pieces too. WeirDo’s formative years were shaped by his diagnosis with Duchenne muscular dystrophy at the age of 9, and he began using a wheelchair two years later.

Though he had shown an early aptitude and engagement with art, taking lessons from the age of 6, the weakening of his muscles led him to pause making art for four years. A testament to his perseverance though, and the pull that innate talent for a discipline can have, WeirDo began making art again, having found inspiration from the work of Basquiat.

This past summer he exhibited works in the show “Empty Rooms” in Cairo – “This exhibition is an expression of my identity,” he said. “It is an expression of the isolation experienced by people with disabilities in a world that seeks to exclude them from daily life, from society and from general socialising.”

Augustine Paredes

Born in Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines, and now based between Frankfurt and Dubai, Augustine Paredes is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans photography, painting, poetry, and installations. Through all his mediums, he is particularly interested in exploring the nuances of diasporic people of post-colonial nations, in particular the Filipino community of which he is a part.

Themes of identity, the creation of narrative through history, and the particular longing that arises from belonging to a colonised nation, run through his work. In keeping with his community-centric practice, he runs Sa Tahanan Collective – a platform which aims to create a profile for Filipino art and creatives – alongside the curator Anna Bernice. His work has been exhibited internationally, and he has authored books of poetry and art, including 2020’s Conversations At The End Of The Universe, 2022’s Happy To Be Here To Be Happy and 2024’s Slow Disco.

Cato

Cato is a multidisciplinary artist who is based in London. Having experimented with creating music, animation and painting since he was a teenager, he has lately become known for his vast collage works. His pieces combine photographs – both archival black and white Polaroids of subjects including jazz musicians, and his own contemporary photography – with techniques including airbrushing and acrylic painting.

Influenced by the rich, frenzied visual language of the American artist and author Romare Bearden, in his own work Cato is especially interested in representing history, Black culture, and the accidental tableaus of everyday life. “I’m trying to make an image with subtle narratives that could be a still from a play, or a frozen moment in a life,” he says. Recently his work has been exhibited in LA, Paris, Margate and Beijing, and he has a forthcoming show in Peckham, London early next year.

Imane Khelif

Imane Khelif shot to fame at the Paris 2024 Olympics this summer. The women’s boxer was born in Tiaret, Algeria and grew up playing football. Ducking punches from the boys on the pitch, she started boxing aged 16, selling scrap metal to raise money for her bus fare to the nearest gym. She first competed professionally at the women's World Championships in 2018, exiting in the first round.

Khelif's perseverance through great adversity has been overshadowed by the transphobic controversy that surrounded her Olympic success, when various high-profile X users, including Elon Musk, were claiming that she must be a trans-woman. The centre of a media storm despite being a cis-woman, she still rose to the occasion, defeating Italian boxer Angela Carini in the semi final in just 46 seconds before beating China's Yang Liu to the Gold medal in the final. Khelif’s victory was as much an example of her focus, dedication, and strength of character as it was a phenomenal sporting achievement.

Bebe Vio

Bebe Vio is an Italian athlete and wheelchair fencer who took home a Bronze medal at this year’s Paralympic Games. Throughout her career, she has won a number of top prizes, including two gold medals at the Paralympics and several European titles. She has also become a prominent advocate for early vaccination against meningitis – the illness which, after contracting it at the age of 11, led to the amputation of both her arms and legs.

Instead of being deterred by the loss of her limbs, Vio redoubled her commitment to fencing, which she had been practising since the age of five, and learned how to fence again with the use of prosthetics. Her determination and technical mastery serve as an inspiration to athletes everywhere, disabled or otherwise. At a time when anti-vaxx sentiments are running rampant, her advocacy work for vaccine awareness, whether speaking at conferences or appearing on the cover of Italian Rolling Stone alongside the headline “vaccinatevi! (get vaccinated), is invaluable.

Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere aka Fave, is a 24-year-old Nigerian musician whose soulful lyrics and vocals are steadily gaining traction with musical tastemakers and mainstream fans alike. She first caught the public’s eye in 2020, when powerful minute-long videos of the future star singing on Twitter went viral.

Born and raised between Eastern and Southwestern Nigeria, Fave’s musical journey began singing in the church choir at the age of six. A middle child and the only daughter in her family, music quickly became her outlet for self-expression. Fave's distinct style merges toughness and vulnerability, and her lyrics centre around stories of love, friendship and heartbreak with an emotional depth that belies her years. Although she experiments with layering genres like Afrobeats, Dancehall, and R&B, her Instagram bio "I have no genre" says it all – Fave's music defies easy categorisation. Fave released her EP Dutty Love to rave reviews in November 2024.

Sheila Bawar

Sheila Bawar is a model from Brazil. She was born in Rio de Janeiro to parents from West Africa’s Guinea-Bissau, and raised in São Paulo, with these vibrant intertwining heritages shaping her perspective. Bawar was scouted at age 13 when out with her younger twin sisters, Lara and Mara, and has worked in fashion since. Her cover for Vogue Brazil's September 2022 issue was a pivotal career moment, followed by her international debut in March 2024, exclusively walking for Saint Laurent in Paris.

In September, Bawar made her New York Fashion Week debut with Jason Wu, and across the year has walked for Dior’s Scottish fling Cruise 2025 show, Jacquemus’ anniversary show in Capri, as well as Max Mara, Victoria Beckham, Valentino, and Sacai among others. Her striking walk is inspired by the power and poise of the model and actor Donyale Luna and the model and musician Grace Jones. She is also a theatre graduate, and hopes her career trajectory can inspire other Black girls in the fashion world to move with confidence.

Searows is the moniker of Alec Duckart, a 24-year-old Pacific Northwest singer-songwriter and guitarist. His debut album, Guard Dog, was released independently in 2022, receiving co-signs Ethel Cain and Gracie Abrams, both of whom he has since supported on tour. As an admirer of Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver, Duckart’s sound often feels like he is singing directly and solely to you. He discovered his creative voice by posting gorgeous but fleeting songwriting moments to TikTok. Dozens of minute-long expressions of unadorned lyrics found a cult following online but were never fully realised as complete songs.

Duckart entered the studio earlier this year to “complete” some of the songs that touched an emotional chord with his audience several years ago. Searows’ latest release, martingale, is a fruit of these labours, transforming the original demo into something lush, spacious, and powerfully expressive, without losing the intimacy of those original bedroom recordings. It follows his acclaimed 2023 EP, End Of The World, and fan favourite, House Song.

Zeyne is an R&B singer of dual Palestinian-Jordanian heritage currently based in Jordan. Sky Brown is a British-Japanese professional skateboarder and surfer, known as the world's youngest professional skateboarder. Zahra Van Nguyen is a London-based artist and choreographer whose practice bridges movement, fashion, art and photography. Drawing on her background in classical dance, Van Nguyen creates experimental, durational performances which seek to recontextualise our understanding of the body and to uncover its paradoxes.

She is interested in the history of dance as an art form, and in using her work to explore extremities and the currents which run below conscious thought – including violence, primal behaviour and instinct. As well as this, she interrogates dance in commercial popular culture, and the ways in which it can normalise and uphold over-sexualisation. A recent video work, “Pelvic Tongues”, 2024, was a direct response to the music video for the 2015 Eric Prydz song “Call on me”, in which Van Nguyen explored the video’s fixation on the pelvis. She collaborates regularly as a movement director in both moving image and fashion editorials and has worked with musicians including Tohji, Varg, and Bobby Ingham.

Evan Purdy

Evan Purdy is a photographer from Manchester who is now based in London, where he recently graduated from the Fine Art degree course at Camberwell College of Art. Purdy first relocated from the North to London in 2020, and he quickly immersed himself in the city’s queer community, creating photographs that capture the quivering potential of youth and the binds of community. In this way, his work could be said to have parallels with the photographs of Nan Goldin.

Early this year saw a show of his work, I Am Firstly Nothing, at London’s Dilston Gallery. Interested in the pull, and sometimes false promise, of major cities, Purdy also recently co-curated a show with Molly Maltman for ORi Berlin, Madly awake am I at my small window, which featured photographers who consider alternatives to city life. “We flock to these cities in search of something. I think most people are unsure what it is that they’re looking for, but for me, I think ultimately the answer is love,” Purdy told Dazed.

Wang Chuqin is the rising star of Chinese table tennis. Born in the year 2000, through his distinctive use of the shakehand grip technique he won the mixed doubles and the men’s team championships at the 2024 Paris Olympics, while also competing in the men’s singles, men’s team, and the mixed doubles event.

The star was involved in a controversy when a journalist stood on his paddle while taking a photo of Wang receiving the gold for the mixed doubles. Using a back-up paddle for the men’s singles, he lost to the Swede Truls Moregard (who had never beaten him before). Wang Chuqin refused to blame the paddle for his loss. Away from competitions, he’s a somewhat shy character – his sporting idol is snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan, who has inspired him through his mental resilience and down to earth manner. Born and raised in Paris, with parents from Mozambique and the Ivory Coast, Sidiki Touré is the creative behind multi-brand retail concept store and culture platform The Key Truck. Touré also creates his own products, from t-shirts to photographs of A$AP Rocky, speakers and vegan cookies.

Touré got his start under Arthur Kar, the founder of Paris-based L’Art de L’Automobile, the brand that combines the fashion world with car culture. Touré is indebted to the sentiments of Virgil Abloh’s legacy, collaborating with his peers to represent the city and grow the perspective of Paris’ youth on fashion and culture. Solène Gün

Solène Gün is a photographer of Turkish and Kurdish heritage who is based in Paris. Since graduating from the Visual Communication/Photography programme at Switzerland’s L'école cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL) in 2018, she has become known for her nuanced studies of identity, particularly as it is expressed by diasporic communities. Identity, through Gün’s lens, becomes, “the means of an intimate connection to the rich cultural fabric of her surroundings”.

Gün’s early projects included Turunç, an immersion into the lives of young men who emigrated from Turkey. “I really take an interest in the details and elements that evoke [my subject’s] culture and their attachment to their roots,” she has said. Working both in fashion and art contexts, she has collaborated with luxury brands and exhibited internationally and is the recipient of multiple awards including the Photoforum Prize, followed by the Swiss Design Awards and the Florentine Riem Vis Grant. Last year, she shot a cover for Dazed’s summer issue, portraying some of the women resisting France’s abaya ban.

Kitty Shukman is a footwear designer based between London and Los Angeles who launched her new brand, Positive Energy Flows Again, with Fashion East this past September. After graduating from the Cordwainer’s Footwear course at London College of Fashion in 2018, Shukman spent three years as a concept designer at Yeezy, where her creations included the sculptural Derrick Rose sneaker. She went on to consult and design for the likes of Burberry, Balenciaga, Crocs and Justin Bieber too.

Parallel to her journey as a designer, Shukman has developed a practice of meditation and mindfulness. Drawing on her own formative struggles with mental health, the designer hosts “Grounded”, a series of London workshops that aim to help provide solace for the city’s creatives. Positive Energy Flows Again could be said to be part of this wellness practice too – the footwear brand is a place where, “spiritual wellness, magic, folklore and streetwear all meld into a weird, wonky but uplifting and nurturing world.”

Marwan Pablo is a musician from Alexandria, Egypt, redefining the region’s rap scene and bringing it to global attention. Pablo began making music in 2015, releasing his debut song “El Gholaf X Ozoris” in 2017. After a string of subsequent singles, he went on a brief hiatus in 2020, returning the following year with the trap-heavy track “Ghaba”. The video for which has since garnered over 32 million views on YouTube.

In 2023, Pablo released his debut album آخر قطعة فنية (The Last Piece of Art). Freddy Coomes and Matt Empringham are a London-based designer duo, known for their playful and innovative approach to fashion. The pair first met during a group project at Central Saint Martins over five years ago, and have been collaborating ever since. One mainstream breakthrough came when stylist Harry Lambert commissioned a look for a shoot with actress Emma Corrin for ES Magazine.

Since their work focuses on exploring their identity and the garments that define it; the duo toy with signature fabrics and items that are quintessentially British. In this way, they challenge conventional fashion norms, often flipping garments on their head through the use of unexpected textiles or by re-contextualising the way they are viewed.

The result: innovative garments alchemised with unconventional materials like latex, silk, and felt. With each piece, the duo’s personal connection is palpable, conceived meticulously in their signature experimental style. The pair are currently working towards their first commercial collection, coming in February 2025.

Based in South Korea, Gyuhan Lee is an innovative artist known for his upcycling projects, particularly for crafting furniture including lamps and chairs. In his first solo exhibition in 2019, On My Seat, Lee used Nike shoe boxes to create chairs that were both visually impactful and sturdy enough for use. Through this project, he played with concepts of mass production, accumulation, and the ways in which we interact with everyday objects.

This year saw the artist's first solo exhibiton in Hong Kong, Pop Craft Structure. To create the pieces in this show, Lee merged recycled paper bags with traditional Korean paper; disposable material fashioned into crafted objects. His pieces have drawn praise for their creativity and practicality and already the artist has been selected to collaborate with global brands including Gucci. Through these partnerships, Lee blends fashion with art; creating functional design objects that challenge traditional notions of both disciplines.

Nykiya Adams is an actor born and bred in London. Currently just fourteen years old, she was discovered at the age of twelve by the casting team for Andrea Arnold’s Bird. The director’s fifth feature after the highly-acclaimed Fish Tank (2009) and American Honey (2016), Bird stars Barry Keoghan, Franz Rogowski and Jasmine Jobson alongside the debutant. Before this role Adams’s only acting experience was a minor part in a school production of Matilda.

Arnold cast Adams because of the actor’s willingness to try new things. In an interview with Dazed, the experienced director said that she even “rewrote the script for Nkiya.” The result? Adams was long-listed for the Breakthrough Performance award at the British Independent FIlm Awards 2024 and she has been highly praised across the media. Indie Wire described her debut performance as “tenacious without ever being grating, vulnerable without ever being weak.” Her first big screen appearance premiered at Cannes in May and is on general release in the UK this November.

Beyond his comedic endeavours, Shane speaks candidly about his OCD and anxiety diagnoses to make these subjects more relatable for young people. Earlier this year, he launched his podcast, Therapuss, a talk show that puts Jake Shane in the proverbial therapist’s chair. London-based model Bibi Abdulkadir is the founder of bibisbooks, a book club and growing community of readers and friends. The platform began in 2020 as an Instagram page, dedicated to amplifying marginalised stories, spanning fiction, poetry and essays. “Talking books and stories is a gateway into our own realities,” says Abdulkadir. “Together we create space from text, cultivating dynamic discussions that diversify our perspectives.”

In January 2021, the platform introduced online book club meetings, which evolved into in-person events by the end of the year at Home, an exhibition space by artist Ronan McKenzie. After a hiatus in 2023, the book club returned in 2024 through a partnership with Dazed Club, for which Bibi Abdulkadir is also a Club Curator. Books discussed have included Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichiem, The Temple of The Golden Pavilion by Yukio Mishima and Liu Cixin's The Three Body Problem.

Additionally, bibisbooks curated a pop-up library in collaboration with designer Nicolas Daley, and recently hosted a poetry reading session at London’s Maison Bertaux.

Books not bombs, art over ammunition, healthcare not warfare, people over profit – these are the positions of Fiona Lali and the Revolutionary Communist Party of which she is national campaigns coordinator. Based in London, the Ugandan-Irish activist received attention for her poised takedown of the former Home Secretary Suella Braverman during a live debate following the Palestine encampments. In the exchange, Lali called Braverman a war criminal and a liar.

Lali went on to run as an independent candidate in London’s Stratford and Bow for the General Election. Standing as a revolutionary communist, she called for an uncompromising anti-capitalist political movement that meets the demands of today’s youth and the turning tide of history with equal fervour. She continues to tour the UK and universities to represent the Palestine solidarity movement and the fight against imperialism.

Myriam Boulos is a photographer from Lebanon whose practice is intricately connected to, and shaped by, the country’s history and political and social landscape. “At the age of 16, I started to use a small camera to get closer to reality,” she says. “During my first years as a photographer I only took pictures at night, in black and white. I think that nightlife is similar to revolutions: it is about collectively exteriorizing things that we are taught to bottle up.”

Following the 2019 October revolution Boulous took to the streets to document its aftermath, and she credits this moment with her work becoming more collaborative, and less introspective – “I realized that by telling my own story, I was inevitably documenting the stories of other people.” Exhibited internationally, she has been featured in publications including FOAM, Time, GQ Middle East, Vogue Arabia, and Vanity Fair France, and she joined Magnum in 2021. In 2023 her book, What’s Ours, was published by Aperture, and she is currently working on a project which documents autism in wartime in Lebanon.

Nahid Islam is a student activist who this summer played an instrumental role in toppling the authoritarian government of Bangladesh. While 2024 was a seismic year for student protests around the world, none have been as dramatically and immediately impactful as Bangladesh’s Anti-Discrimination Movement, of which Islam was a key co-ordinator. It began as a protest against a quota system for government jobs – which dictated that 30% of positions should be reserved for descendants of fighters in the 1971 independence war, and which critics claim was outdated and unfair – before escalating into a broader uprising.

This uprising saw more than 200 people killed, Islam himself tortured by the intelligence services, and Prime Minister Sheikh Jasina eventually fleeing the country in a helicopter. Now, Islam is working as an adviser for the interim government, headed up by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunis, and helping to guide Bangladesh to a more democratic future. His example shows that – with clear demands and the conviction to see them through – student activism really can radically reshape the world.

Raised in London, YT is a musician of Nigerian descent. He started out making music in his bedroom on Garageband way back in 2016. He’d record himself over beats he’d ripped from YouTube before progressing onto Fruity Loops – and from there he learned how to create and produce full beats.

Graduating from Oxford University in 2024, his release of “#STILLSWAGGIN” that same year saw him reanimate 2010s jerk music for a new generation of rappers. 2024 has seen the rapper’s star rise even higher with “Black & Tan” helping YT reach new audiences for its humour: ‘I make it bounce / Miami, Tennessee or Surrey Quays.’

Always going against the grain and pushing boundaries, he’s as influenced by the drill talents of his city, such as Loski, as he is by pop megastars like Kesha and Lady Gaga. What characterises his unique sound? Autotune hooks, the constant weaving of references through brave lyricism, and witty punchlines. YT is bringing humour and personality back to a rap scene that often takes itself far too seriously.

Swank Mami, real name Umal Moses, is a musician from Norway. Mami began making music in 2016 as part of the now-defunct collective By Any Means, but it was her time at Oslo's experimental college Prosjektskolen that inspired her to take it seriously.

In 2022, Swank Mami debuted her song “Venus Retrograde”, a sensual R&B track in which she reflects on boundaries and heartbreak, with her now-trademark soft, pitched-up vocals. The following year, she released her debut EP Eurostar, diving deeper into themes of love and betrayal, set against a backdrop of infectious, dance floor-ready rhythms. The EP, shared via New York label Honeymoon, opens with the ghettotech-laced “Bad B*tch”, before moving seamlessly through glimmers of techno, drum and bass, and Jersey club. In an interview with Dazed she said that this contrast speaks to “the exterior of being strong but also being soft. I feel like I’m both in many ways.”

At a time when ‘decolonisation’ is so often reduced to an identity-based politics of gesture, El Aasar has emerged as one of the most incisive anti-colonial voices at work today, someone who not only writes about the struggle but – as an organiser with fellow Dazed 100ers the Palestine Youth Movement – plays an active role.

As the host of 'Nile to Bank' on NTS Radio, El Aasar showcases the cultural vitality of the MENA music scene, encompassing everything from left-field hip-hop and drill to experimental sound art. Whether as an activist, writer or DJ, few figures are doing more to illuminate pan-Arab solidarity and cultural expression in 2024.

Courteney Frisby is a photographer based in Hackney, London, who specialises in rave and event imagery. Her portfolio is known for its authentic depiction of queer nightlife, capturing its vibrant energy through saturated colours, high-contrast lighting and candid moments.

After graduating with a photography degree from Westminster University in March 2020, Frisby began her foray into club photography, shooting her first assignment on a £10 digital camera. Now, her work includes imagery for renowned parties such as Fèmmme Fraîche, Field Manoeuvres and Body Movements. In April 2024, east London venue Dalston Superstore celebrated its fifteenth anniversary by inviting Frisby to curate an exhibition in the space, which included pictures from parties such as Gay Agenda, Bottom Heavy and Dolls vs Twinks.

“I’m trying to capture the colourfulness of everyone’s individuality,” Frisby told Dazed. “People being free and letting loose. A lot of queer people can’t walk out in the streets and be who they want to be, so it’s beautiful to go into a space where everyone is themselves.”

Through immersive visual landscapes, digital renderings, and textural illustrations, Dutta’s work explores the impact of various social forces on landscapes. Bringing to light how climate and geology are impacted by colonisation and resource extraction, he draws our attention to the perilous future of the ecological systems that we rely on. The Paris-based curator and writer Mario D’Souza has said that in Dutta’s work “light finds a way in.”

Needing little introduction, Chappell Roan is a singer-songwriter and performance artist, raised in Missouri and currently based in LA. While Roan’s debut album - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess - was released in 2023, 2024 the year that the musician’s career went stratospheric.

From her Tiny Desk set going wildly viral in March to the April release of “Good Luck Babe”, which felt like an instant pop classic, to last month’s exhilarating SNL performance of the as-yet-unreleased “The Giver”, there was the sense of superstar being made before our eyes, and a level of hype not seen since Lady Gaga’s rise in the late 00’s. As just one indicator of this, when Roan performed at Lollapapoolza in August, she drew one of the largest festival crowds in history.

While her rise to fame has not always been frictionless, her talent as a songwriter and performer is undeniable, and her outspoken solidarity with Palestine - which led to an onslaught of attacks - marks her as a cultural figure of rare integrity. Perhaps more than any other artist, 2024 belonged to her.

At 16, kwn attended East London Arts and Music College and was inspired to pursue music full-time. In 2022, she released her debut EP episode wn. The project, along with her subsequent singles, is characterised by silky, autotune-laced vocals and honeyed harmonies addressing desire, failed relationships, and burgeoning situationships. In addition to her solo projects, kwn frequently collaborates with the musicians Sasha Keable, Scribz Riley and Destin Conrad.

Despite parting ways with Black Butter Records and Sony Music this year, kwn has shown no signs of slowing down. In August, the artist featured on Kehlani’s track “Clothes Off”. She released her single “worst behaviour” in autumn 2024, affirming her steady rise as an independent artist.

Gracie Brackstone is a multidisciplinary artist based between London and Manchester, who works primarily with photography and video. Beyond her main mediums, Brackstone also explores writing and digital sketching, as well as creative concepting, styling and event hosting as part of her role as a Dazed Club Curator.

Brackstone also runs the collective Art Is Coming, created in 2022 as a response to the Cost of Living Crisis, and its impact on working class and minority communities across the UK. Merging art, protest and performance, the collective has hosted events at Tate Liverpool, VF Dalston, Antwerp Mansion and The Love Factory.

In 2023, Brackstone self-published Life’s A Parade, a photo-book chronicling her life and community between London and Manchester, which shed light on themes of queerness and political activism, while also allowing her to process a period of bereavement. This was followed by the photo series Shared Dreams in 2024 – a colourful celebration of her connections and their mutual aspirations.

Ryuan Johnson is a 24-year-old Chicago-based sculptor and creative director who primarily works with hair. The hairstylist, also known as Sexyscalps on Instagram, tells stories using materials found around her. She often creates her sculptural braids with random discarded objects, from disposable lighters and bottle caps to birthday candles.

Introduced to braiding as a form of self-care in her youth, Johnson views hair as both a means of self-expression and a reflection of her emotional and mental states. Her grandmother's work in a hair salon influenced her understanding of hair's cultural significance. Johnson's sculptural pieces, which resemble glimmering chandeliers and sprawling canopies, represent pride, confidence, and culture, using hair to communicate an affective universe in her creative direction and art.

Based in Paris, Sandra Dibansa is a journalist, editor and the founder of MAARS Magazine, which debuted in November 2022. Drawing on her French and Congolese roots, Dibansa created the online magazine as both a refreshing alternative to conventional French media, and a platform for exploring her own cultural heritage.

MAARS offers a polycentric take on creative culture from Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and South Asia, as well as island nations and Francophone diasporas. An acronym for “Mode, AArts, Rythmes, Société” (Fashion, AArts, Rhythms, Society), its name is also inspired by Mars Blackmon, the eccentric, quick-witted character from Spike Lee’s film 1986 She’s Gotta Have It.

Through the magazine and her broader work, including her role as a Dazed Club Curator, Dibansa strives to “dismantle one-sided narratives and showcase the power of multiplicity in shaping modern culture.” Since its launch, MAARS has featured editorials shot in Fez and Dakar, as well as interviews with creatives like fashion designer Leslie Barbedette, musician Rita L’Oujdia and artist Randa Mirza.

After working in the beauty industry for over a decade she has recently written her first book, an award-winning work of narrative nonfiction titled Pixel Flesh: Womanhood in the Digital Age. Shallipopi is an Afrobeats musician, producer and label owner hailing from Benin and now based in Lagos, Nigeria. The young star produces club-ready tracks that bring an alternative hip-hop spin to classic Afrobeats lyrical motifs. He is known to his fans as ‘the president of Pluto’, for the self-created Pluto slang term which appears repeatedly in his hit songs.

While he was still a student at Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State studying Fashion Design, Shallipopi first won over listeners in March 2023 with his viral hit “Elon Musk". Over the course of 2023, his rapid ascension continued with the hit tracks “Shapiru” and a remix of “Elon Musk”, which featured Firebody DML and Zlatan, providing further evidence of his originality. As well as that remix, Shallipopi’s well-timed collaborations with fellow hitmakers Odumodublck and Rema on 2023’s Cast and 2024’s Benin Boys respectively, affirmed his position as one-to-watch in the Afrobeats industry.

By July 2023, Shallipopi had released his debut EP Planet Pluto which was followed 4 months later by the album Presido La Pluto. The artist’s unrelenting pace saw him bring out another album, the chart topping album Shakespopi in 2024. His impact extends well beyond his home base—he headlined 2024 Wireless Festival in London and performed at Burna Boy’s I Told Them concert at the London Stadium. Shallipopi’s reach stretches beyond his own music too – 2023 marked the launch of his label Plutomania Records through which he nurtures the next generation of talent. FDfromtheFuture is streetwear culture’s documentarian. Based in London, the South African-Italian creator, creative and presenter is known for his high-energy, boots on the ground reporting of emerging and established brands.

His reportage has seen him interview the streetwear obsessives queuing down the streets of Soho for the latest collabs, with segments subjecting them to silly challenges, diving into their vast personal archives and vintage hauls. He’s got on the mic with Skepta, Central Cee, Nines, Mahalia, and Bianca Saunders for his now infamous Quickfire Questions on TikTok and Instagram. Another video with Cench, in which the duo drove around London to drop off the rapper’s Nike collab to friends, went viral too.

Andrew Dahling is a mixed media makeup artist originally from Hebron, Kentucky who currently lives in New York. He is known for his vivacious, colour-agnostic style and deep storytelling with makeup artistry – Dahling makes a diva of anyone he puts his hand to.

Chappell Roan’s campy and glam ascent has been painted by Dahling: he created her striking bird features for her Jimmy Fallon appearance, a John Waters’ muse Divine face beat for Halloween, and Roan’s French Jazz Age-inspired makeup look for a major Saturday Night Live performance. He’s also painted Julia Fox, Jazzelle Zanaughtti (@Uglyworldwide), voguing legend Honey Balenciaga, Richie Shazam and Trisha Paytas. Shye is a self-taught, independent singer, songwriter and producer from Singapore. She kickstarted her own career at just 16, when she entered and won the Vans Musicians Wanted competition. Rui Zhou is a Shanghai-based designer from Hunan, China. After graduating from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, she went on to pursue a Master’s degree at New York’s Parsons School of Design in 2012. It was here, in 2019, that she founded her eponymous brand RUIbuilt. As a genderless brand, RUIbuilt creates silhouettes that come to life through the movement of the body.

Diadié Diombana is a Paris-based chef who is known for his pop-up Freddy’s Kitchen. Of Malian descent, Diombana’s flair for cooking was instilled early on by his mother and grandmother, and as a child he would often oversee the meals of his four younger sisters.

Today, his culinary practice draws on both his African heritage, and on the flavours and techniques of Asian cooking, to create something that is entirely Diombana’s own. Think dishes like okra stuffed with pistachios and cajun spices, merguez sausage spaghetti and an African-influenced aubergine parmigiana.

Having spent a stint as Madonna’s personal chef, Diombana decided to launch his pop up series, beginning with a stint at a Châtelet restaurant that was so successful he quickly decided to make it a regular endeavour. Now 20, the Delray Beach, Florida native’s relentless and razor-sharp playing style – plus, her killer 125 mph serve – has netted more pivotal career moments and record wheel spinners. Her Grand Slam title win at the 2023 US Open made Gauff the first American teenager to win the tournament in a quarter of a century, since Serena Williams in 1999.

Aside from all the history-making, Gauff went onto an Olympics debut, and has scored eight WTA tour singles titles and nine doubles titles, including June 2024’s French Open. Off the court, Gauff and former Dazed 100er Storm Reid recently collaborated with nonprofit East Atlanta Kids Club and New Balance to refurbish Brownwood Park’s tennis court and playground in Atlanta. In line with this civic mindset, Gauff has also been vocal about her own journey with mental health in the high pressure sport, and tennis’ gender pay gap issue. Long-term, she hopes to start her own foundation to support aspiring young tennis players.

Hergie Bacyadan is a Filipino boxer and kickboxer who made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by being the first trans man to compete in an Olympic boxing match. Fighting against Chinese boxer Li Qian, Bacyadan was allowed to compete in the women’s competition because he has not undergone any hormone treatments. While Qian won the fight with a clean sweep of all three rounds, Bacyadan’s participation is a huge step forward for trans athletes – who remain marginalised in professional sports.

In the aftermath of the Paris games Bacyadan said: “Being a trans man, or a transgender man, means identifying and living as male, regardless of the medical steps one may or may not choose to take.” His bravery at a time when trans people receive hostile responses to their existence will inspire others to keep fighting for inclusion, so that, in Bacyadan’s words: “everyone has the freedom to express their true selves without judgement or unnecessary expectations.”

Matilda ‘Tilda’ Mace is a London-based 3D Body Makeup and SFX artist, renowned for her otherworldly transformations. Using prosthetics and special effects, she reimagines the human form as mutant creatures and fantastical beings. Through her work, she celebrates an individuality often lost in trend cycles, encouraging others to rethink their ideas of beauty.

Flesh-protruding feathers, faux-stitched scars, and scale-coated bodies are just some of the creations Mace has produced. By pushing the boundaries of 3D Body Makeup and SFX, she challenges beauty norms, embracing the strange and the unconventional. She’s turned Megan Thee Stallion into a hot girl panther and reimagined Eartheater and Yaz XL as radioactive marine creatures for Halloween. Mace is a frequent collaborator with FKA twigs, with whom she creates mesmerising performance rituals. She has also brought her surreal beauty to countless runway shows and editorial campaigns, most recently for Mowalola’s Dirty Pop show in London.

2024 saw a rough and ready reimagining of the gaelic revival in the form of the Belfast-based trio Kneecap. Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara, and DJ Próvaí are an Irish language-speaking hip-hop trio who are leading an Irish youth culture movement across music and film.

As well as their musical output, they have starred in their own self-titled biopic alongside Michael Fassbender, in a story that’s a contemporary, chaotic, comedic take on deeply entrenched issues of identity and politics in the north of Ireland. The film stormed Sundance, becoming the first Irish language film to win an award there. The story, told through the lens of their riotous music and run-ins with the police and paramilitaries is now a potential Oscars contender too.

Self-described “hoods and low-life scum”, Kneecap released their debut album Fine Art in June 2024, taking it on the road to Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, as well as mammoth US and European tours. Amid chats with Jeremy Corbyn and stunts including a provocative Belfast mural and rolling a police Land Rover up to Sundance, the group has remained vocal about Palestine solidarity. Next year sees them supporting Fontaines D.C. and headlining festival slots.

Raised in Tottenham, Chy Cartier is a rapper known for her fearless, unfiltered lyricism and pinpoint delivery. Released at the end of 2023, the musician’s video for her debut song “Bossed Up” gained over one million views in 24 hours on Instagram. Cartier’s subsequent singles, including “04” and “Snakes & Ladders”, reflect on this newfound fame, with verses addressing ambition, hardship, and the significance of family, while handling doubters and fake friends.

In September 2024, Cartier demonstrated her lyrical prowess with a hard-hitting freestyle on Kenny Allstar’s “Voice Of The Streets” segment on BBC Radio 1Xtra. This was followed by Cartier’s most recent single “YO”, which enlisted UK rapper Headie One as a feature on the remix. With further accolades from artists such as Central Cee, Little Simz, and Stormzy, Cartier is one of the scene’s most exciting newcomers.

Ralphie Choo is a Spanish producer and singer-songwriter based in Madrid. With a stage name inspired by The Simpsons, Choo began making music in 2019. That year, he also formed the multidisciplinary collective Rusia-IDK, alongside rusowsky, DRUMMIE, TRISTÁN, and mori, with whom he continues to collaborate.

Choo’s breakthrough came in 2022 with the release of “BULERÍAS DE UN CABALLO MALO”, a song merging flamenco guitar and claps, with glitchy rhythms and chopped vocals. His 2023 debut album SUPERNOVA, released on Warner Records, continued this genre-bending approach, blending ethereal strings, keys, and flutes with elements of bossa nova, cumbia, R&B, and IDM; punctuating wistful vocals with childlike coos and Auto-Tune inflections. The artist’s visuals are equally as idiosyncratic, employing post-Internet aesthetics, green-screen imagery and surrealist motifs to construct a world that is entirely his own. Ralphie Choo recently collaborated with musician Rosalia on her track “Omega”, released in September 2024.

Allan Weber is a Rio de Janeiro-based multimedia artist whose work spans photography, sculpture and installation. Raised in the five Bocas favela and community, where he still lives today, his work is centred around depicting and interrogating the realities of daily life and culture in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. In keeping with this theme, in 2020 he founded Galeria 5 Bocas, a contemporary art gallery based in his neighbourhood that is particularly concerned with spotlighting other local emerging artists.

Untiring in his commitment to the people of his favela, he also runs Tropa da Arte, a football team for younger boys. Influenced by the legacy of Brazilian Constructivism, Weber’s work has been exhibited both internationally and across Brazil, and is held by public collections including Rio de Janeiro’s Museu Nacional de Belas Artes and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo. In 2024 he was a recipient of the Prince Claus Fund’s SEED Award, which seeks to amplify emerging talent globally.

Lamine Yamal is a footballer for La Liga club Barcelona and Spain’s national team. He was born in the municipality of Esplugues de Llobregat, near Barcelona, and raised in Rocafonda, a neighbourhood of Mataró in Catalonia. Enya and Drew’s creativity reaches far beyond their podcast set. Recognised as vital voices of this generation, they have toured colleges across the country, produced marketing content for major brands such as Marc Jacobs, Acne Studios, Aritzia, and Urban Outfitters, and even released their own merch line. Recently, they starred in a five-episode scripted series, Field Trip, which they co-wrote and produced alongside consistent collaborator and musician Josiah. Now, they are expanding their audience worldwide – with future ambitions to write and act for film and television.

Tul8te

Based in Cairo, Tul8te is an Egyptian pop star and songwriter. Despite exploding in popularity since the beginning of the year, he has so far managed to keep his identity a secret by performing behind a white-knit mask.

Cocktail Ghinaei - his second full-length release in 2024 after February’s Tesh Shabab - showcases Tul8te’s remarkable versatility, drawing influence from Spanish flamenco, psychedelic rock, bossa nova, trap, R&B, Arabic rhythms and the iconic Egyptian pop singer Amir Diab. Its lead single, “Habeeby Leh”, became a break-out hit: the video, in which Tul8te rides through the streets of Cairo on a moped, has over 16 million views on YouTube, while the song itself has been played over 17 million times on Spotify. These are impressive figures for any Egyptian artist, but especially so considering he didn’t spend any money on marketing or promotion. Tul8te is an organic cultural phenomenon, a hugely talented vocalist and songwriter, and a bright new star in Arabic pop.

Lucy Ellis is an experimental animator based in London. By working across both digital and analogue, she considers our relationship with technology as it evolves, while at the same time producing work that considers time, memory and the texture of materials. Her work often repurposes technological relics of the recent past, like a Nokia 3310 mobile phone, yet rarely feels nostalgic.

This past October Ellis was selected as the winner of the inaugural Dazed X Rabanne Arts Factory, for a submission which considered ‘technophilia’, that is, the intimacy we now have with our devices, and the ways in which our interactions with these devices can mirror romantic relationships. As part of the Arts Factory initiative, her work will be exhibited during December’s Art Basel Miami Beach, and 2025 will also see her screen work at the London Short Film Festival too.

Nemahsis

Nemahsis is a Palestinian-Canadian singer and songwriter who captivates audiences with her poignant vocals and vulnerable lyricism. Born Nemah Hasan, she grew up in Milton, a suburb in Toronto, Ontario, where her secluded surroundings fostered a creative, resourceful mindset. In 2020, Nemahsis gained traction on TikTok, sharing makeup and fashion content that highlighted her identity as a hijabi woman, alongside a cappella covers of artists like Lana Del Rey and Adele. In 2021, Nemahsis released her debut single “what if i took it off for you?”, inspired by a negative experience with a global beauty brand, followed by her EP eleven archers in 2022.

After signing with a record label in October 2023, she was unexpectedly dropped five days later. Undeterred, Nemahsis self-released her debut LP Verbathim in 2024, blending folk, indie, and baroque pop, to confront themes of generational trauma, societal bias, and rejection. It received critical acclaim, and was praised by artists including Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Imogen Heap. Nemahsis will celebrate the album’s release with a sold-out headline tour starting January 2025.

Marwan Kaabour

Marwan Kaabour is a graphic designer, artist and writer who in 2011 moved from Beirut to London, where he has been based ever since. Almost straight out of university Kaabour joined the prestigious design practice Barnbrook, where he spent seven years honing his skills, before leaving in 2020 to launch his own practice.

Both at Barnbrook and in his capacity as solo designer, he has worked with global institutions, artists and publishers, including the V&A Museum, Phaidon, Art Basel, The National Gallery, Thames & Hudson, Serpentine Galleries, Hayward Gallery, Somerset House, Banksy, and South London Gallery.

Since 2019, Kaabour has also run Takweer, an online platform which seeks to expand existing archives of queer narratives in Arab history and popular culture. His debut book, The Queer Arab Glossary, was published in June 2024.

Lahiru Weladawe

Born in Sri Lanka and raised in Paris, Lahiru Weladawe is a multidisciplinary creative and the founder of Kolam, a Sri Lankan street food restaurant. Widely touted as one of Paris’ buzziest new food offerings, Kolam aims to bring Sri Lankan cuisine to a wide audience, and to address the underrepresentation of the South Asian diaspora in the food scene. It was in part born out of the Covid-19 lockdown which saw Weladawe, who has also spent time working as a marketing executive, starting a food delivery service with his father, who is a chef.

The project quickly took off, in tandem with Weladawe’s Instagram page Kolam Studio, which functioned as an archive of videos and photographs documenting Sri Lankan culture. A partnership with Adidas helped solidify Kolam as a brand and the physical restaurant was quick to follow. Today, it’s still very much a family endeavour, with Weladawe’s father Prasanna and partner Léna working alongside him, and his mother and sister pitching in too as needed.
