Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar
told his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani at Ashdod Thursday
that UN Palestinian refugee relief agency UNRWA was "part of the
problem" in Gaza and therefore Israel welcomed Italy's Food for
Gaza scheme.
"Israel is committed to humanitarian aid in Gaza within the
framework of international law. But UNRWA is not part of the
solution, it is part of the problem", Sa'ar told a joint press
conference.
"Humanitarian aid is not equivalent to UNRWA. "Those who want to
support humanitarian efforts in Gaza should invest resources in
alternative organizations.
"So I thank you, Minister Tajani, for the leadership shown by
you and Prime Minister Meloni with the Food for Gaza project".
