Yvonne Harris in her new book, “The Vigilante’s Bride” published by Bethany House Publishers gives us a Western thriller that, if Alfred Hitchcock were alive today, he would want to direct it.
This is a Western and I really like Westerns, filled with cowboys, Indians, gunfights, cattle drives and greedy, land swindlers. This is a thriller, the good guys are in deadly danger practically from page one and the danger escalates as the story progresses. This is a romance. This is a story filled with great characters that you do not mind spending your time with and wonderful writing. This is a really great read!
Montana. 1884 and Luke Sullivan is going home. For very valid reasons he decides to rob the stagecoach and finds Emily McCarthy, a young woman mail-order bride to his arch enemy. Not wanting to subject her to that he abducts her taking her to the orphanage where he lives and works. Now the man wants his paid for bride but that is not going to happen because Luke and Emily fall in love. These two and the rest of the good guys must deal with cattle rustlers, Crow Indians, orphan children, an assassin and stolen land.
Here is a shocker, sometimes I make poor choices and, originally, I was not going to read this book. However, I was given a second chance and I am so grateful for it. I would spoil it if I really got a chance to tell you just how exciting this book is! Not only is this book everything I have already said but the themes are so grand. Ms. Harris explores whether God can make something good out of our disasters and bad choices. When the bad guys are powerful and it seems the law cannot touch them can God deal with them? Are we too small for God to care for and minister to our wounds and traumas? These themes and more are dealt with as Ms. Harris gives us a truly great ride of a book. I told my wife I have not enjoyed a book like this so much in a long time. I am now a big fan of Yvonne Harris and am impatiently waiting for the next book. It is well worth your time to read this book; you will be glad you did
