Unplain is not an AI writer, not a page-by-page design editor like Canva or InDesign, not a template library, and not a file converter. It takes a finished document and produces the designed PDF: the words stay yours, the layout is automatic, and a Brand Theme replaces templates.

No. Unplain lays out the words you bring and never rewrites them. You can still edit any text in place in the editor. AI is only involved if you ask it to generate images.

Yes. Insert images anywhere in the document, with captions, and Unplain places them cleanly into the layout. Uploading your own images is unlimited on every plan, and you can also generate them with AI from the same allowance as covers.

Yes. Generate cover art with AI or upload your own image; either way the cover layout is composed for you. AI images come from one allowance shared with in-book images: 3 in total on the free plan, 60 a month on Pro, or 30 with a Creator Pack.

Yes. Open the document in the editor, click any text to change it, insert headings, lists, images or buttons, or switch the Brand Theme, then export again. Layout and pagination stay automatic, so an edit never breaks the pages.

Connect the Unplain MCP server to Claude Code and Codex, then ask your assistant to turn a file or a draft into a PDF. It creates the document on your account, applies your Brand Theme and exports the PDF, and you can open the result in the editor to adjust anything.
