Buyer beware...
Just returned from a six day trip to Rome and the Amalfi Coast. Overall, I wish that I had not booked through Fleetway. When using a travel company, I thought I would be getting better deals than I could on my own and this was definitely not the case.
The flight was booked through Norwegian - I could have booked it cheaply on my own - but serviced by Privilege Airways - quite possibly the worst airline with absolutely zero customer service. Asking for a cup of water seemed like an imposition.
The rental car was old, with far too many miles, and was sluggish at best. On the plus. it had enough space for our luggage.
It took me over a week to get additional options for our hotel on the Coast - despite multiple calls from me to Fleetway. We were charged an additional $270 for the upgraded hotel even though a 4 night stay was about that cost via Booking.com - what happened to the amount of money I already paid for the first hotel? Why did we want to switch hotels? When staying on the coast, you actually want to see it and have a balcony to enjoy the view. I think that's pretty basic. I saw it from the outside when walking through the town and was glad we switched as it looked like a dump. When I finally got the 2nd hotel booked, the Fleetway representative couldn't guarantee that we'd have a balcony, but she'd put it in as a special request. The home page said that all rooms have balconies, so how much research did she actually do??
The hotel in Rome was good overall, but it was so far outside of the main part of the city, it was hard to come and go during the day and the area had little more than a (very good) restaurant and train station within walking distance. Again, the room cost on Booking.com was far lower than what I must have paid through Fleetway. And I would have expected Fleetway to include the cost of the parking since they had booked the rental car. It wasn't a big deal nor expensive, but just unnecessary.
In summary, I could have done a lot better had I booked it all myself. I didn't as I thought I would have a premium experience using a travel agency.
