I recently purchased a BlocOut blind…

I recently purchased a BlocOut blind system for my toddler's bedroom to help her sleep in total darkness. As a first-time buyer, I was highly looking forward to installing it based on their excellent reviews

However, upon receiving and opening the package on 2/7/26 I was disappointed to find some quality issues. The pole edging is marked and scuffed. Furthermore, the sponge lining only runs halfway across the blind instead of stretching completely across the edge. This gap will allow light to leak through, defeating the purpose of the blackout system.

So I emailed customer service and was told that’s within 5-7 working days that I would receive a replacement set. I have still yet to hear from them. I have the email correspondence and the receipts to back the above up.

To say the least I am disappointed 😔 , still waiting for the replacement and no way in good conscience can I recommend them to others despite the good social media advertising.

Poor experience

The blinds were terrible but customer service was even worse.

Fitted the blinds as per the instructions frame fitted perfectly, went to clip the cassette in and didn’t fit at all. Went to take the frame off the wall and it has ripped the wall apart which now needs re plastering and filling.

Rang customer service who said they would arrange a collection, 7 days later still nothing so rang and asked for a phone call, still nothing, chased again and finally got through to someone who’s finally arranged collection.

Quality of these blinds were very poor and backed up with very poor customer service has made the whole experience really disappointing as I was hoping for so much more.

Very disappointing and not worth the price

Very disappointing and absolutely not worth the money.

These blinds are marketed as a premium blackout solution, but our experience has been anything but. They were so difficult to install that we ended up having to hire two professional installers through Taskrabbit, costing us a fortune on top of the already expensive blinds.

After all that, they still don’t properly block out the light — significant light comes through the sides. Even worse, the blind repeatedly falls out of the side rails, meaning we’re constantly having to put it back into place.

For a product specifically sold on its blackout performance and premium design, this is simply not good enough. An expensive, frustrating product that has failed to do the one thing we bought it for. I would not recommend BlocOut.

Ordered 2 velux blinds a month ago

Ordered 2 velux blinds a month ago, initial emails requesting a cancellation were ignored, and eventual response was the blinds were in production on a 27 day lead time. After chasing up for a delivery date today I’ve been told they’re not in production but I’ve also not received a refund.

Only works if windows are closed!

The Company has been excellent with good customer service and response. The problem is the product, which requires precise measurements being taken before manufacture and the fact that the blind requires windows to be closed to guarantee blackout. Obviously, in hot weather windows need to be open but the slightest breeze pushes the material out of the side runners and there is light leakage.This is not mentioned in any advertising and as we always have windows open for fresh air in the bedroom the product is not fit for purpose for us.

No sign of the blinds!

Ordered blinds five weeks ago, apparently in transit for eight days stuck with a courier no update can’t get through to anyone no replies to any messages dreadful customer service

Recently got a blocout blind for our bedroom, and are absolutely thrilled with it it really does block out all the light. We love it so much we’ve now ordered another two for the other rooms highly recommend . Also, it’s very easy to install

Delivery took longer, gaps of light

Delivery took longer than originally quoted. Definitely NOT blackout! Lots of gaps despite triple checking measurements, not the best quality.

Initial response was good

Initial response was good, but after my measurements were referred to the technical team I was told someone would get back to me shortly. Unfortunately that never happened. I’ve now sent three polite follow-up emails over the last week, including asking for a simple yes or no, and I’ve received no response at all. A company selling made-to-measure blinds should provide much better communication, especially when customers are waiting to place an order.

Leaks light at the bottom corners

Have had two blinds from bloc out. The first one works relatively well but was a pain to install. I recently ordered another for my son's new bedroom and whilst the installing process I think is much clearer now, I was disappointed. It's very expensive, took 4 weeks to receive and it leaks loads of light at the bottom corners. Have ordered cheaper ones elsewhere which work way better as they have a full frame. Going to have to buy curtains to go over the top to make it completely dark.

Delays, poor communication, poor customer service

No idea what the blinds are like, as I'm still waiting for them over 5 weeks later. When I ordered it said there was a 3 week turn aeound. Communication and after sales support are awful. The only thing I've heard from them - after chasing multiple times - is "sorry your address isn't valid, is there an alternative address we can ship to"... Yeah. Let me just move house shall I?

Wouldn't recommend or use again. Plenty of other companies offering identical products.

Ghosted

Four days after their reply to my review, no one has contacted me....this is my initial review:It took over 4 weeks for the blinds to arrive and then they arrived too small. Despite an initial immediate response the company have gone silent for over 3 working days. I double checked my measurements and they were perfect. They are just ghosting me now...with my money safely in their account.

Overall poor

Ordered a blind a few weeks ago - the blind does not fit correctly even though the measurements are accurate. I called the customer care team and was told to email Bloc Out, I did this but had no reply. Very poor service for something that is expensive!

DO NOT BUY DANGEROUS

DO NOT BUY DANGEROUS. They sent us pieces that were the completely wrong size and it took far too long to resolve it (emails and phone calls) and have the correct size re-delivered. They were incredibly hesitant to offer any refund for the inconvenience, they eventually offered about £30 off. Then a year later the blind falls off the wall (for no reason, I was on the other side of the room) and lands in my babies crib and on the floor of her nursery. Luckily I was holding her and she wasn’t hurt, but it was a near miss, had she been in the crib or on the floor it would have hit her. I contact them and they say this would have only happened due to faulty installation. The item was installed correctly and used correctly. I am also pretty surprised they can be so sure that it was my fault not a poorly designed or faulty item given their own measurements, quality control and customer service is pretty sketchy. DO NOT BUY

Thank you for your feedback, and we're very glad your daughter wasn't hurt.

We've been in direct contact about this. Our blinds are secured with screws into the wall or recess and are designed to remain firmly in place when fitted in line with the instructions.

In this case, the blind had been fitted and in use for around a year without issue before it came away, which points to the fixing into the wall rather than a fault with the blind itself. A manufacturing or design fault would typically show up at or soon after installation.

As fitting is carried out by the customer or their installer, we're unable to accept responsibility for a blind coming away from the wall.

That said, we'd be happy to review photos of the blind, brackets and fixing points if you'd like us to look into it further.

We're sorry the original delivery didn't go smoothly, and we appreciate you raising both issues with us.

I have just left a review on social media and thought it was only just, that I left the same on trustpilot as trustpilot is a important platform for a lot of companies.l!

Brilliant blinds, easy peasy to fit and they do what they say!

It gets so dark, in my room now, that I cant see my hand in front of my face!

The back up and support is top class to. I had a slight problem and with just one phone call it was all sorted, and sorted quickly.

Such a good experience that I actually ordered two more, cant wait for them to arrive!

I bought "blackout" blinds from another company and they were no where near the quality of blocout, when I had a issue. They wouldn't respond. I couldn't get hold of them. So I ended up out of pocket and stuck with the blinds!!

Blocout have more than made up for it!

Not very robust

The blinds were easy to install and fitted well however with a couple of weeks the blinds have come out of the runners and are constantly getting scrunched. When they work they do provide good blackout but they break easily.

Look well but not wind / breeze friendly

Blinds fit perfectly and look good, however, if I had my time again- I wouldn’t re-purchase as they can’t be used with a window open.
I like to sleep with a window open for ventilation, however the wind has damaged all of our blinds now.
They’re still functional but catch in strange places and no longer block out all light.
It’s a shame because otherwise, they’re lovely but as someone who works nights, it’s unfortunate what’s happened
