Extreme weather isn't only about water scarcity. It can mean heavy rainfall too. While much of Europe faces successive heatwaves this summer, the Nordics have seen the opposite: sustained heavy rainfall. Our customer, a leading biorefinery in Sweden processing forest raw materials, faced this situation a few summers ago, made worse by a boiler breakdown at the same time. The facility didn't have enough boiler feedwater to maintain production. We deployed mobile filtration (MOFI 3x60S), reverse osmosis (MORO 4x25T), and deionization (MODI 15000T) assets. As rain continued, water quality degraded further, increasing suspended solids and calling for extra pretreatment. An ultrafiltration unit (MOUF 2x140C) replaced the initial filtration stage. Two more reverse osmosis assets (MORO 25C) followed, adding supplemental capacity and redundancy. Boiler feedwater reached 120 to 150 m³/h, with daily operations managed by a local O&M partner. Since 16 July, the Vosges has been under crisis-level drought management, the highest tier of water resource control in France, a threshold last seen in 1976. The Moselle, the river the mill depends on for its process water, dropped in quality as a result. Demineralization lines came under strain, putting continued production at risk. We deployed two mobile units on site: the MORO 4x25T, a trailer-mounted reverse osmosis unit, and the MOFI 3X60S, a skid-mounted filtration unit. Together, they relieved pressure on the demineralization chains and kept production running. While our units are often deployed outdoors, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀, adapting to the space and constraints of an active industrial site.
