I am really sorry to keep you waiting for my review of Ten. I was supposed to post this one last week but didn't get the chance to read the book, haha. I am again procrastinating -__-
So much for that! Now let's talk about my verdict of Ten, shall we?
I have always been a great fan of suspense and horror books! They just give me the creeps that I want to feel. And reading Ten has sent chills down my spine! It made me alive and alert!
One author that got me to like suspense and thriller driven books is James Patterson. He's style of writing, the story-line and the twists and turns in his books just made me love his literary works. Most of his books are a hit for me! Without him I probably won't be encourage to read Ten by Gretchen McNeil. I'm really thankful that I read this one! And you know what? Now I have two favorite authors who write horror books!
Whenever I read new books from new authors that I have just known about usually I don't expect much from it. But Ten was an exception. Despite it being my first book from Gretchen McNeil I got high expectations from it. And I'm glad Ten didn't disappoint!
Throughout my reading I was brimmed with emotions: sadness, anger, horror and suspense. But the dominating emotion that was on going till the end of the book was suspicion. I didn't trust anyone. Not even Meg! I even thought that she was behind all the killing! I kept thinking and guessing, to the extent that my mind hurts, until the end but just ended up wrong! haha,
One thing that I see as a downside is the lack of in-depth development of characters and romance. Yes, a diversity of personality was showed but I guess the length of the book wasn't enough to cover 10 personalities at once. The romance was okey. I wasn't really entertained by it.
Ten is an entertaining, thrilling and a mind wrecking read! The mystery, thrill and suspense were perfect. If you're up for a great horror book then you'll definitely like this one.
