Last Easter
Just a short note to let you know I will be gone until next week.
I will spend the next few day’s preparing for Toritto’s traditional Easter get together!
I will have 15 or so guests on Sunday including my girls, their husbands and Clark, who is arriving tomorrow night to spend the weekend with gramps.
The house is spotless (when daughters are visiting an old man must never give the impression he cannot live alone!) the catering is all done (I cook nothing!), there will be plenty of scotch, vodka, rum and Grand Marnier, pastries, coffee and a box of Montecristo cigars. I will do last minute shopping when I finish up this post.
I get invited to every holiday and birthday so once a year for more than a decade I have tried to reciprocate on Easter Sunday. We are not as many as we used to be; Paula and Terry are gone, as is Gene, a family friend and some are now unable to make a long trip. But we have added Clark and a niece’s boyfriend , so the procession of the living goes on.
I am not the oldest here either! My two brothers-in-law are both in their 80s. We are three widowers and we sometimes shake our heads and wonder why we three are still here and they are gone.
During these years I have had more than 80,000 hits on this blog.
My sincerest thanks and Happy Easter/ Passover to all who visit regularly and those who visit occasionally.
See you next week, “God willing and the creek don’t rise!”
🙂

Have a great time with your family, Frank. That photo seems to be coming around earlier every year! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Happy Easter to you and yours, especially that Beastie Boys fan. He’s bigger every time we see him.

Toritto,
Fate long ago smiled upon Jane and me in the form of our daughter marrying a guy named Schiavone. So, we are invited to the Schiavone Easter celebration and will glory in the vino and pasta as you will. Have a happy family time!
