Prefer this for query values, not whole URLs.
Examples
Decode a query string value
name%3DAda%26age%3D36 โ name=Ada&age=36Only percent escapes are decoded. A plus sign stays a plus, so write a space as %20.
Malformed escape
100% โ Invalid URI component or malformed UTF-8 percent sequence.A lone % is not a valid escape. Encode the value first, so the % becomes %25.

Quick answers for URL Encode / Decode
Should I paste a complete URL?
Encode individual component values when you need to preserve URL structure. This page uses encodeURIComponent, which also escapes URL separators.
Does decoding turn plus into a space?
No. A plus sign stays a plus sign. Spaces encode as %20.
What happens with invalid input?
Malformed percent escapes and invalid UTF-8 sequences produce an error. Input is limited to 100,000 characters.
When should I use Base64 instead?
Use URL Encode for query and path component values. Use Base64 Encode/Decode for binary-safe text transport, and JWT Decoder for compact tokens.
