The historic alliance between Washington and Jerusalem is facing an unprecedented strain after US President Donald Trump issued a series of blunt warnings to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Speaking to Axios and during the G7 summit, Trump claimed that without his direct intervention, Israel would have been "eviscerated" by Iran. As the White House grows increasingly frustrated with uncoordinated Israeli strikes in Beirut that threaten to dismantle a fragile regional peace deal, American officials are sending a direct message to Tel Aviv: U.S. military backing is no longer unconditional, and Netanyahu must align with the diplomatic exit ramp.
