U.S. Eyes Russian Defence Technology As Iran Strikes Cripple Defences | Report

The war with Iran has exposed a major vulnerability in America’s air and missile-defense architecture: radars can be targeted, destroyed and used as a force multiplier against the entire defensive network. With high-value U.S. and allied radar systems reportedly coming under attack, Washington is now looking toward a new generation of highly mobile air-defense radars that can rapidly relocate, disperse and operate as part of a wider network. The approach has striking parallels with Russia’s road-mobile S-300 and S-400 systems, where radars, command vehicles and missile launchers can operate as interconnected but physically separated elements. The U.S. Army’s IBCS already follows a network-centric philosophy, allowing sensors and interceptors to operate beyond traditional battery boundaries. Could mobile radar technology become the next major evolution of THAAD and U.S. missile defense?
