Russian President Vladimir Putin has unveiled an ambitious nuclear energy expansion plan, declaring that Russia possesses expertise across the entire nuclear energy chain. Speaking as Russia marked the 81st anniversary of its nuclear industry, Putin highlighted the country’s role in nuclear power construction and said its export portfolio includes 28 reactor units in different countries. He also announced plans to commission around 30 gigawatts of additional nuclear capacity, including small nuclear power stations, across regions such as the Urals, Siberia and the Far East. Putin stressed the need to maintain Russia’s technological edge, strengthen fuel supplies, improve safety and train skilled nuclear specialists.
