Putin’s Massive Aviation Win: Russia's New Yak-130M Fighter Debuts, Homegrown MS-21 Nears Takeoff

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Irkutsk Aviation Plant to inspect two of Russia's most significant aerospace projects—the upgraded Yak-130M combat trainer and the fully import-substituted MS-21-310 passenger aircraft. The Yak-130M features advanced radar, new avionics, and air-to-air and air-to-surface missile capabilities, while the MS-21-310 is built entirely with Russian-made systems as Moscow pushes for self-reliance amid Western sanctions. The visit highlights Russia's efforts to modernize its military aviation and expand domestic aircraft production, with the MS-21 expected to enter serial service after certification in 2027.

Only One Woman Finds Place In DK Shivakumar's Karnataka Cabinet Even After Major Expansion

The Congress high command has approved the expansion of Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s Cabinet, clearing the names of 20 ministers, including only one woman—Gayathri Shanthegowda. The expansion brings in 12 new faces while retaining eight incumbent ministers, with the oath-taking ceremony being held in Bengaluru. The development has revived the debate over women’s representation in the state Cabinet. The first 13-member Cabinet under Shivakumar had no woman minister, drawing criticism from within the Congress. At the time, the Chief Minister had said Cabinet vacancies remained and asked leaders to wait for the expansion. However, even after the latest reshuffle, Gayathri Shanthegowda remains the only woman in the Karnataka Cabinet, despite the inclusion of 20 ministers in the expanded Council of Ministers.
