Multiple reports claim that Tehran could be preparing as many as 15,000 intercontinental ballistic missiles ahead of a possible U.S. attack. The figure remains unverified, and previous U.S. intelligence assessments have said Iran did not possess a militarily viable ICBM capability. A 2025 Defense Intelligence Agency assessment said Iran could potentially develop such a capability by around 2035 if it chose to pursue it. At the same time, an Iranian official has reportedly warned that any attack could trigger devastating retaliation against U.S. bases and American interests across the Middle East, including Israel. The claims come as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high, with Iran repeatedly warning of a wider response to any military action.
