Sara Bejlek arrived at the Cincinnati Open 2026 without the same attention as many of the tournament’s biggest names. The 20-year-old Czech left-hander has now changed that completely. Her stunning run has taken her to the first WTA 1000 semifinal of her career.

Born on January 31, 2006, Sara Bejlek comes from Znojmo in South Moravia, Czech Republic. The region is known for its wine country. Bejlek later moved to Prague when she was 15 as she continued developing her tennis career.

At around 5-foot-3, Bejlek is much smaller than many of the powerful players on the WTA Tour. But she has never allowed her size to define her game.


She is a left-hander and uses a two-handed backhand. Her style is built around speed, movement and variety. She can change the pace of rallies and use different spins and angles to trouble opponents.

Her quickness is one of her biggest strengths. Bejlek can turn defence into attack in just a few shots. She is also comfortable moving forward and using her touch around the net.
