Samaresh Jung is one of India's greatest Commonwealth Games shooters, winning 14 medals - 7 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze - across three editions. He claimed 2 gold and 3 silver at the 2002 CWG, before producing a historic performance at Melbourne 2006, where he collected 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze while competing in eight events. His dominance earned him the prestigious David Dixon Award as the Most Outstanding Athlete of the Games, while volunteers famously nicknamed him "Goldfinger." Jung added 1 silver and 1 bronze at the 2010 CWG, taking his overall tally to 14 medals. He was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2002 for his outstanding achievements in shooting.
