How to draw MISTORB

Greetings, welcome back for another tangled up adventure 🙂

Mistorb is from Japanese CZT Yoko Kaka and it’s her second on the site, Tanbrella was her first.

Yoko tells us about her inspiration for Mistorb,

I was so excited when I found out that this round mass on the tree was mistletoe.

Since then, I’ve always been looking for mistletoe on the trees when I’m out. Here it is with cherry blossoms:

I took a photo of mistletoe and sketched it. Next, I came up with the idea for a tangle, inspired by mistletoe. Close-up of mistletoe:

The name is “mistorb,” a combination of mistletoe and orb.

I really enjoyed learning about mistletoe from Yoko, I don’t believe I’ve ever thought about where/how it grows before – I guess I thought it sprang naturally into ribbon-tied bunches for Christmas 😉 Flux-like “petals” and lots of orbs wherever you like make Mistorb a fun and pretty focal tangle.

Yoko illustrates the step-by-step instructions for drawing Mistorb below, “For the sample, I tried combining mistorb with Hollibaugh.” I also see some Doodah, Doodid, Knightsbridge and Shattuck in there.
