About

Leap is a digital platform that provides insurance alternatives to security deposits and guarantors for the rental markets. Leap acts as an institutional guarantor for people who don't meet a building's income or credit requirements. Leap is also available to applicants without SSN/ITIN. Leap's products make leases more affordable and help renters get into the apartment they want. Leap also insures rent payments to landlords. Leap runs a hard check on a renter's credit, but the impact on their FICO score is minimal.

About

A brand new way of building openSUSE and a new type of a hybrid Linux distribution. Leap uses source from SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE), which gives Leap a level of stability unmatched by other Linux distributions, and combines that with community developments to give users, developers and sysadmins the best stable Linux experience available. If you’re already running openSUSE you can upgrade by booting from the DVD/USB and choosing upgrade, or carry out an ‘Online Upgrade’ in a few commands. Leap is a classic stable distribution approach, one release each year and in between security and bugfixes. This makes Leap very attractive as server operating system, but as well for Desktops since it requires little maintenance effort. openSUSE Leap is compatible with SUSE Linux Enterprise; this gives Leap a level of stability unmatched by other Linux distributions and provides users the ability to migrate to an enterprise offering.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • No positive impact on any aspect of our business. Use of LEAP resulted in renting to tenants who otherwise did not qualify, and LEAP did not pay when they defaulted despite the coverage.
  • They have decent prices for residents. I have nothing else to say as a pro for LeapEasy.

Cons

  • Despite collecting their fee they will do everything they can to avoid paying you out when you actually have a claim. So you end up with tenants who you wouldn't have rented to without LEAP, and when LEAP should pay, they don't.
  • When they get busy it takes weeks for them to review and application and weeks to respond to emails asking for updates. I had so many potential tenants lose a place to live due to their timing issues.
