Surface Explorer

A high-performance multi-backend 4D surface visualizer built with Qt 6 and Qt RHI.

Renders parametric and implicit surfaces in real time in four-dimensional space (x, y, z, p). Qt RHI keeps it hardware-agnostic, automatically using the most efficient graphics API on your system: Vulkan, Metal, Direct3D or OpenGL.

Current release 1.2, for Linux, Windows 10/11 and macOS 12.0+. An iOS build is on the App Store; the desktop binaries are in the Files section.

Linux: a downloaded AppImage carries no permissions, so your desktop may hand it to a disk-image tool instead of launching it. Put install-linux.sh in the same folder and run "bash install-linux.sh" to add it to your applications menu, or make the AppImage executable with "chmod +x" and launch it directly.

Known issue on Windows/Direct3D: presets driving the Geodesic Flow solver from a metric written in the Equations panel may fail to render and can hang the application. They work on the other platforms.

Features

  • Ray Marching Engine (implicit surfaces, SDF)
  • Geodesic Flow on Curved Manifolds
  • 4D Spatial Rotation & Projection
  • Multi-Mesh Surfaces
  • 400+ Built-in Presets, Records & Textures
  • Dynamic GLSL Scripting
  • Audio-Visual Synthesis
  • Video Export
  • Qt RHI Engine (Vulkan/Metal/D3D)
  • Cross-platform (Win/Lin/Mac/iOS)
