Google Cardboard XR Plugin for Unity

Google Cardboard XR Plugin for Unity

Google Cardboard XR plugin for Unity

This SDK provides everything you need to create your own Virtual Reality (VR) experiences for Google Cardboard in Unity 2019.4.25f1 or later. It supports essential VR features, such as motion tracking, stereoscopic rendering, and user interaction via the viewer button. With these capabilities, you can build entirely new VR experiences, or enhance existing apps with VR capabilities. You can use the Cardboard SDK to turn a smartphone into a VR platform. A smartphone can display 3D scenes with stereoscopic rendering, track and react to head movements, and interact with apps by detecting when the user presses the viewer button. The Unity XR Plugin Management API lets you turn VR mode on or off for the Google Cardboard XR Plugin for Unity. The VrMode scene in HelloCardboard sample shows basic usage of the aforementioned API.

    AI4U

    AI4U

Multi-engine plugin to specify agents with reinforcement learning

AI4U is a multi-engine plugin (Godot and Unity) that allows you to design Non-Player Characters (NPCs) of games using an agent abstraction. In addition, AI4U has a low-level API that allows you to connect the agent to any algorithm made available in Python by the reinforcement learning community specifically and by the Artificial Intelligence community in general. Reinforcement learning promises to overcome traditional navigation mesh mechanisms in games and to provide more autonomous characters. AI4U can be integrated into Imitation Learning through Behavioral Cloning or Generative Adversarial Imitation Learning present on stable-baslines. Train using multiple concurrent Unity/Godot environment instances. Unity/Godot environment partial control from Python. Wrap Unity/Godot learning environments as a gym.

    Hover UI Kit

    Hover UI Kit

Create beautiful user interfaces for immersive VR/AR experiences

Hover UI Kit is a tool for creating beautiful, customizable, dynamic user interfaces. All interface interactions utilize a simple and consistent mechanism, the "hover", which users can perform with any 3D input device. These interfaces are designed specifically for VR/AR applications, addressing the complex UX challenges of these immersive environments. Virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) applications must provide ways for users to interact -- to select items, to move them, to modify them, to trigger actions, to control their virtual world. The user experience (UX) can become increasingly complex as new features are introduced, leading to a long list of application-specific interactions that can conflict with each other and can be difficult for users to learn. Hover UI Kit is built to solve this problem. It is a tool for creating beautiful, customizable, dynamic user interfaces.

    MercuryMessaging

    MercuryMessaging

Framework to facilitate communication in the Unity game engine

The Mercury messaging toolkit is a new way to handle cross-component communication in the Unity game engine. It integrates seamlessly with the Unity Editor, and is both robust and expandable. It has been tested in Unity 2020 up until 2020.3.21f1, Unity 2019 up until 2019.2.17f1, Unity 2018 up until 2018.3.13f1, Unity 2017 up until 2017.4f1, and 5.6. The toolkit contains the Mercury messaging framework, which is a messaging and organizational framework built around the Mercury Protocol. Unity organizes its rendered scene objects (known in Unity as GameObjects) using a standard scene graph (known in Unity as the Scene Hierarchy). While Unity is very powerful, it is fairly difficult to achieve nonspatial communication between scriptable components of GameObjects (in Unity, known as MonoBehaviours).

    NatML

    NatML

High performance, cross-platform machine learning for Unity Engine

NatML allows developers to integrate machine learning into their Unity applications in under five lines of code with zero infrastructure. NatML completely removes the need to have any experience with machine learning in order to take advantage of the features it can provide. NatML takes advantage of hardware machine learning accelerators, like CoreML on iOS and macOS, NNAPI on Android, and DirectML on Windows. As a result, it is multiple times faster than Unity's own Barracuda engine. NatML exposes machine learning models with simple classes that return familiar data types. These are called "Predictors", and they handle all of the heavy lifting for you. No need to write pre-processing scripts or shaders, wrangle tensors, or anything of that sort. NatML supports Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows alike. As a result, you can build your app once, test it in the Editor, and deploy it to the device all in one seamless workflow.

    UXF

    UXF

Framework for creating human behaviour experiments in Unity

The Unity Experiment Framework (UXF) is an open-source package for the Unity3D game engine that can be used to assist the development of virtual reality human behavior experiments. Developed by Jack Brookes, Immersive Cognition Group, University of Leeds. Automates the process of collecting the variables you define within your task, and stores them simple CSV files. Time-series data such as the position and rotation of an object can be easily acquired and split into one file per trial. Allows you to programmatically define independent variables for your session, blocks and trials. Includes a pre-built UI for allowing the researcher to view and enter information about the session. All file IO tasks are performed concurrently in a separate thread to avoid any drops in the framerate. UXF works with any Unity project but is designed specifically for virtual reality human behavior experiments.

    VRTK

    VRTK

An example of how to use the Tilia packages to create great content

VRTK is a collection of useful, reusable solutions to common problems found when building for virtual reality. VRTK aims to help productivity by speeding up the creation process from prototyping ideas to building complete solutions. The passion behind VRTK is to try and enable as many people as possible to build for VR, from seasoned developers to complete beginners who have a wonderful idea in their head but are unsure of how to create it. VRTK aims to be easy to understand so the absolute beginner can feel comfortable turning their creative thoughts into experiences but it also has enough power and flexibility to allow developers to really build out their perfect solution with little friction and without constantly re-inventing the wheel. Virtual reality is a relatively new medium so no one really understands what truly works or what doesn't work in terms of solutions, so VRTK aims to bring a community of diverse people from all across the world together to work on solving this.
