    Citra Emulator

    Citra Emulator

    A Nintendo 3DS Emulator

Citra is an experimental open-source Nintendo 3DS emulator/debugger written in C++. It is written with portability in mind, with builds actively maintained for Windows, Linux and macOS. Citra emulates a subset of 3DS hardware and therefore is useful for running/debugging homebrew applications, and it is also able to run many commercial games! Some of these do not run at a playable state, but we are working every day to advance the project forward. (Playable here means compatibility of at least "Okay" on our game compatibility list.) Citra is licensed under the GPLv2 (or any later version). Refer to the license.txt file included. Please read the FAQ before getting started with the project. If you want to contribute please take a look at the Contributor's Guide and Developer Information. You should also contact any of the developers in the forum in order to know about the current state of the emulator because the TODO list isn't maintained anymore.

    Proton

    Proton

Compatibility tool for Steam Play based on Wine and other components

Proton is a tool for use with the Steam client which allows games which are exclusive to Windows to run on the Linux operating system. It uses Wine to facilitate this. Most users will prefer to use Proton provided by the Steam client itself. The source code is provided to enable advanced users the ability to alter Proton. For example, some users may wish to use a different version of Wine with a particular title. As the new Steam Play is still in Beta, it is recommended that you opt into the Steam Client Beta for the latest features and fixes. Proton works best with the latest graphics drivers. For some cutting edge games and graphical features, you may need drivers newer than what your distribution ships. Install and play games! We strongly recommend that most users use the production build of Proton.

The platform is designed to persist across system updates and reboots, ensuring continuity of installed plugins without manual reconfiguration. It supports advanced developer features such as two-way communication between plugins and the loader, as well as interoperability between Python backends and TypeScript React frontends. Decky Loader also allows plugins to bypass typical browser restrictions like CORS, enabling more powerful integrations with external data sources.
