OpenPiano — Virtual Piano for Windows

OpenPiano — Virtual Piano for Windows

Play and record piano with a keyboard, mouse, or MIDI controller.

OpenPiano turns your Windows computer into a playable piano. Use your computer keyboard, mouse or MIDI controller, choose a sound, and record an idea without leaving the app. This virtual piano includes Default and Grand Piano sounds. Add compatible SF2/SF3 SoundFonts (instrument sound files), or download the optional Steinway D-274 Hi-Fi piano. Choose 61 or 88 keys and customize key mappings, note labels, colors, sustain and pitch. Save performances as editable MIDI notes with recorded sustain-pedal events, or render WAV audio using the sound and volume selected at export. Playing and recording work locally without an account. Use the Windows installer or run standalone. No extra sound download is required to begin; settings and custom sounds stay in your Windows user profile. Updates and optional downloads use the internet. DarkAudacity

    DarkAudacity

    A customized version of Audacity

A free sound editor, DarkAudacity is the well known Audacity sound editor now with a darker more modern theme - and a few small tweaks. The audio engine underneath is the same audio engine. The same code powers it. Like Audacity it is completely free. It's not a cut down trial evaluation version. You can record and play sounds, edit sounds, apply audio effects and save what you create for ringtones, podcasts and more. DarkAudacity is Open Source, free for you to download and use on your PC. Audacity and DarkAudacity come from a community effort. Many people have contributed to the audio code. Because they are Open Source, anyone is allowed to read and modify the source code. DarkAudacity is a variation on the Audacity software, made possible because Audacity is Open Source.

    Toadflax

    Toadflax

graphical front-end for editing/transposing abc music files

Toadflax is a graphical tool for displaying and editing/manipulating tunes in abc notation. It exists in two forms, Toadflax built using GTK and py_toadflax built using tkinter, the python window toolkit. It allows the user to load in abc music notation files and work on each one independently. The music is displayed on-screen, without needing to use a PostScript interpreter, making it a lightweight notation viewer. The Toadflax program uses a music renderer based on yaps, while py_toadflax uses the music renderer from the abcCairo project based on abcm2ps. The source can be hand-edited or transformed in various ways using an adaptation of the abc2abc program. Perhaps the most useful feature that this provides is transposition with the ability to instantly see the effect of a transposition.
