    SWire

    SWire

A Stata plugin for connecting Stata with other software

SWire is a software interface enabling us to query Stata for the executing of basic operations like reading or writing data. The core of SWire is a Java plugin which functions as a server and it can be queried by using the HTTP protocol. SWire is in essence a wrapper around the Stata-Java API and all the functions relating to this API can, therefore, be externally called by clients. SWire can be interrogated on a local network and it accepts AJAX queries, thus enabling the development of web applications which provide the user with graphical user interfaces. For example, a web application running on a browser can interact with Stata on a local network; this application could be a data entry form or an automatic report. By providing a communication protocol, SWire makes it possible to connect Stata with many other applications for data exchange and basic interaction, thereby extending the capabilities of Stata. SWire requires Stata >=13.

    Immutable Sparse Wave Trees (WaveTree)

Realtime bigdata tool for bit strings up to 2^63 based on AVL forest

Realtime bigdata tool at the bit level based on immutable AVL forest which can be run in memory or, in future versions, as a merkle forest like a blockchain. Main object is a sparse bit string (Bits) that efficiently scales up to 2^63 bits normally compressed as forest has duplicated substrings. Bits objects support reading bit, byte, short, int, or long (Java primitives) at any bit index in 64 bit range. Example: instead of building a class to hold a header and then data, represent all of that as Bits, subranges of them, and ints for sizes of its parts. Expansion ability for other kinds of compression, since Bits is a Java interface. Main functions on bits are substring, concat, number of 0 or 1 bits, and number of bits (size). All those operations can be done millions of times per second regardless of size because the AVL forest reuses existing branches recursively. Theres a scalar (originally for copy/pasting subranges of sounds) and a bit Java package. Sparse n dimensional matrix.

    Make It True

    Make It True

    Simple, effective algebra trainer

Make It True is a web application to practice fundamental algebra procedures used when manipulating equations. The application generates arbitrary equations containing 1-4 variables. It is for the student to provide values for these variables which make the equation true. For example, in the screenshot above the equation is: 18-64-c*d=4. The student must choose values for c and d which result in a true statement. One approach would be to solve for the product "c*d" and then choose 2 numbers whose product satisfies what's needed. Like this: 18-64-c*d=4 18-64-4=c*d c*d=-50 Then the student could pick any two numbers with product of -50, like c=-25 and d=2. Another approach would be to pick any number for c, then express d in terms of that number. For example, if the student arbitrarily chose c=13 then: 18-64-c*d=4 18-64-13*d=4 d=(4-18+64)/(-13)
