    libjpeg-turbo

    libjpeg-turbo

    SIMD-accelerated libjpeg-compatible JPEG codec library

libjpeg-turbo is a JPEG image codec that uses SIMD instructions (MMX, SSE2, NEON, AltiVec) to accelerate baseline JPEG compression and decompression on x86, x86-64, ARM, and PowerPC systems. On such systems, libjpeg-turbo is generally 2-6x as fast as libjpeg, all else being equal. On other types of systems, libjpeg-turbo can still outperform libjpeg by a significant amount, by virtue of its highly-optimized Huffman coding routines. In many cases, the performance of libjpeg-turbo rivals that of proprietary high-speed JPEG codecs. libjpeg-turbo implements both the traditional libjpeg API as well as the less powerful but more straightforward TurboJPEG API. libjpeg-turbo also features colorspace extensions that allow it to compress from/decompress to 32-bit and big-endian pixel buffers (RGBX, XBGR, etc.), as well as a full-featured Java interface.

    Mini Jinja

    Mini Jinja

MiniJinja is a powerful but minimal dependency template engine

MiniJinja is a minimal-dependency template engine based on the syntax and behavior of Python’s Jinja2. It is implemented primarily for Rust and also has Go, JavaScript, Python, C, and CLI-related components. The project supports Jinja-style templates, inheritance, filters, expressions, dynamic objects, and serde-compatible data. It is designed to stay close to Jinja2 while keeping compile times, dependencies, and API surface manageable for Rust programs. MiniJinja can also be used as a small expression language or embedded template layer in larger applications. It is useful for configuration generation, HTML rendering, LLM chat templating, data workflows, and command-line templating.

    pushy

    pushy

A Java library for sending APNs (iOS/macOS/Safari)

Pushy is a Java library for sending APNs (iOS, macOS, and Safari) push notifications. Pushy sends push notifications using Apple’s HTTP/2-based APNs protocol and supports both TLS and token-based authentication. It distinguishes itself from other push notification libraries with a focus on thorough documentation, asynchronous operation, and design for industrial-scale operation. With Pushy, it’s easy and efficient to maintain multiple parallel connections to the APNs gateway to send large numbers of notifications to many different applications (“topics”). We believe that Pushy is already the best tool for sending APNs push notifications from Java applications, and we hope you’ll help us make it even better via bug reports and pull requests. If you need a simple GUI application for sending push notifications for development or testing purposes, you might also be interested in Pushy’s sister project, Pushy Console.

    HowToLiveBetter

    HowToLiveBetter

Evidence-based living guidelines sorted by cost-effectiveness

HowToLiveBetter is an evidence-focused interactive life guide that organizes hundreds of practical recommendations by cost, expected benefit, and strength of evidence. It covers health, longevity, emergency response, personal finance, legal risks, unemployment, entrepreneurship, relationships, parenting, travel, and skill development. Each recommendation explains what resources it costs and what outcome it is intended to improve. Evidence ratings are tied to journal research and official documents rather than general web commentary. The web interface lets readers search and filter recommendations by dimensions such as money, time, and required effort. The repository also includes longer essays, reference material, verification notes, and structured book chapters. It functions as both a static publication and a searchable decision-support reference.

    SVG Explorer Extension

    SVG Explorer Extension

Extension module for Windows Explorer to render SVG thumbnails

The SVG Explorer Extension is a utility for Windows File Explorer that adds native thumbnail rendering and context-menu previews for SVG files. With this extension installed, Explorer will show scalable previews of .svg files just like image formats, enabling visual quick identification of vector files. The project also adds a “Preview in Windows Explorer” feature so users can see full-size SVGs in the side preview pane without launching an editor. It supports features like CSS-based styling, embedded fonts, and scaling in thumbnails so the preview matches rendering expectations. Because Windows doesn’t natively render SVG previews in many versions, this fills a usability gap for designers, developers, and content creators working with vector assets. The extension is lightweight, integrates into shell UI seamlessly, and improves file navigation workflows involving vectors.

    insta

    insta

A snapshot testing library for rust

Insta is a snapshot testing library for Rust. It lets developers compare complex values against stored reference outputs instead of writing fragile manual assertions. Snapshot tests are useful when outputs are large, structured, or expected to change during development. The project includes macros for generating snapshots, reviewing changes, and storing inline snapshots inside source files. A companion cargo tool helps manage the review workflow, while a VS Code extension improves snapshot file editing and inspection. Insta is especially useful for command output, serializers, parsers, compilers, debug values, and tests where human review matters.

    SDL

    SDL

    Simple DirectMedia Layer

SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) is a cross-platform multimedia development library designed to provide low-level access to hardware components such as graphics, audio, input devices, and system resources, making it a foundational tool for building games, emulators, and interactive applications. It abstracts platform-specific functionality into a consistent API, allowing developers to write code once and deploy it across multiple operating systems including Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. SDL is written in C but is compatible with C++ and has bindings for multiple other programming languages, making it highly flexible for different development environments. The library is not a game engine itself, but rather a hardware abstraction layer that enables developers to build engines or applications on top of it with full control over performance and rendering. It supports modern graphics APIs such as OpenGL, Vulkan, Direct3D, and Metal.

    RustDesk Server Program

    Self-host your own RustDesk server

rustdesk-server is the self-hosted backend for RustDesk, an open-source remote desktop solution. It provides the rendezvous and relay components that allow RustDesk clients to discover peers and traverse NATs securely, enabling direct or relayed connections when needed. By running your own server, you retain control over connection metadata and can operate entirely within your organization’s perimeter. The project targets simplicity of deployment while maintaining performance characteristics suitable for interactive screen sharing and file transfer. It supports common operational needs such as configuring ports, authentication modes, and relay behavior to match diverse network constraints. Together with RustDesk clients, it offers a fully open alternative to proprietary remote-access ecosystems with an emphasis on privacy and self-custody.
