Acceptable Use Policy

Effective October 4, 2026 · Version 2026-10-04 · SourceFinch is operated by The Schoeller Group LLC.

SourceFinch collects public information on behalf of its customers. This policy sets out what you may and may not use it for, how our crawler behaves on other people’s websites, and how site owners and rights holders can reach us. It is part of the Terms of Service, and it applies to every way of using the Service: the console, API, MCP server, CLI, SDKs and any AI agent you connect.

1. You are responsible for your right to the material you monitor

Before adding a Source, check the site’s terms of use and any licence for its data, and consider copyright, database rights, privacy and data-protection law and any contract that binds you. Usage-rights information we show for catalog Sources is our recorded understanding of the source’s published terms when we reviewed it, not legal advice. Keeping Evidence for your own records does not give you the right to republish it.

2. How SourceFinch behaves on other people’s websites

These are enforced by the Service for every customer. No customer or plan can turn them off.

  • It identifies itself with the SourceFinch user agent, a link to our crawler page and a contact address.
  • It obeys robots.txt on every page a run fetches. You may not ask us to ignore it.
  • It fetches only public HTTPS addresses and refuses private, internal, loopback and cloud-metadata networks.
  • It never signs in to a website on your behalf, submits credentials, or works around paywalls, CAPTCHAs, bot challenges or other access controls.
  • Runs are scheduled no more often than your plan allows, with per-run request, size and politeness limits.
  • New websites are reviewed after first use, and some platforms whose terms prohibit automated access are blocked for everyone.

3. You must not use SourceFinch to

  • Access content behind a login, paywall or other access control, or try to bypass any technical limit, block or rate limit.
  • Monitor a website whose terms prohibit automated access, or keep monitoring it after its owner asks you or us to stop.
  • Collect personal data to profile, track, surveil, harass, discriminate against or contact individuals; collect special-category or sensitive personal data, or data about children; or build contact lists for unsolicited marketing.
  • Infringe or misappropriate intellectual-property or database rights, including by republishing retained Evidence without permission.
  • Overload, disrupt, scan or probe the security of any website, network or service, including ours.
  • Point Sources at systems you do not own to test their defences.
  • Engage in or facilitate fraud, deceptive practices, price-fixing, market manipulation, insider trading or any other unlawful activity, or violate export-control or sanctions laws.
  • Upload or transmit malware, or use the Service to send spam.
  • Resell or provide the Service, or a scraping service built on it, to others without our written agreement.
  • Share accounts, or create multiple accounts or free workspaces to evade plan or trial limits.
  • Let an AI agent connected to your workspace do anything this policy prohibits; you are responsible for your agents.

4. Enforcement

We review new websites and respond to complaints. If we reasonably believe this policy has been breached, or a site owner or rights holder makes a credible objection, we may block a website for all customers, pause or remove Sources, delete affected Evidence, revoke API keys or OAuth grants, or suspend or terminate a workspace. Where appropriate and lawful we will tell you what happened and why. Serious or repeated breaches may lead to termination without notice.

5. For site owners: opting out

  • robots.txt: disallow the SourceFinch user agent (rules for our legacy Source-Engine-Cloud token are also honoured). Changes apply to the next run. See /bot.
  • Write to us: email hello@sourcefinch.com from an address at your domain, or explain your connection to the site. We can block your domain for every customer. We aim to respond within 2 business days.

6. Copyright and takedown (DMCA)

We respect intellectual-property rights. If you believe content stored or made available through the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent with: your physical or electronic signature; the work you believe is infringed; the material and where it appears (a URL or enough detail to find it); your contact details; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Designated agent: The Schoeller Group LLC, Attn: Copyright Agent, legal@sourcefinch.com, The Schoeller Group LLC, 390 NE 191st St #13414, Miami, FL 33179. U.S. Copyright Office DMCA designated agent registration number DMCA-1081909.

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address with the information the law requires. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.

7. Reporting abuse or security issues

Report abuse of the Service to hello@sourcefinch.com and security vulnerabilities to security@sourcefinch.com (see our security page).
