Character matrix

Character matrix used in Mesquite 2.7 (Maddison & Maddison, 2019) through character mapping investigate the relationship between the palmar sesamoid, the carpal ventral surface, phylogeny, and the habitat use within the anuran group

Morphological descriptions of the ventral surface of the manus of species downloaded from Morphosource CT imagens

We selected those species that have a bony palmar sesamoid and described it and the distal carpal anatomical context. Some details were included to extend the usefulness of our data to anatomists working in other topics.

CT image of the skeleton of the ventral surface of Limnodynastes dorsalis

The muscles, flexor plate and the sesamoid were removed to show the distal carpal 3+4+5 form. DC distal carpal 3+4+5; DCc distal carpal 3+4+5 parallel crests; DC hole distal carpal 3+4+5 hole; DC2 distal carpal 2; U ulnar; R radial; U-R radio-ulna; Pp prepollex; Y Y element. Digits are enunciated in roman notation as II, III, IV, and V.
