About

I could not afford first place, so I built somewhere you can climb to it.

Outbidding for visibility became a thing almost overnight. Projects paying, publicly, to be seen ahead of each other - and everybody watching it happen.

It was not within my budget. I could not get my own projects anywhere near the top of a board like that, and for a while that was simply the end of it.

Then late one evening the idea came: keep what was good about it, and fix the part that shut me out. Not a different model - the same one, with a second way up.

I gave it about ten minutes of thought. Then I sat down and built until it got light, and a week later the wall was live - the one you are reading this on.

Here it is. Share your link, and every new person who reaches the wall through it is a point that lifts you. If one of them puts up a project of their own, that is 5 - a bigger jump again.

So we pull each other up. You send people in, some of them stay and list something, and everyone involved climbs a little. That is the version of this that works for the rest of us - the ones who do not have $20,000 to spend on first place.

A small budget should not mean a small chance.

Why a second currency

Paid boards work. Someone pays for a position, gets seen, and everybody understands the deal - there is nothing wrong with it. It just answers a single question: who has the largest budget this month.

That leaves out almost everyone. Most good projects are built by people who cannot put five figures behind a placement, and a board they have no realistic chance on is not a board they belong on.

So this one keeps the money and adds a second way in. Effort counts too - and effort is something a small project has more of than a big one. Nobody has to outspend anybody to reach the top of this wall; they have to be worth sharing.

How a place is won

  1. 1

    Take a place for $10

A website or an X profile goes on the wall with 10 permanent base points. Every dollar above the minimum is one more permanent point, so the entry and the rank are the same decision.

  2. 2

Earn the rest by sending real people

Every climb gets a share link. A new person who arrives through it is worth +1, and if one of them buys a place of their own that is +5. Keeping the outclimbed badge on your own site adds +30 bonus points, held for as long as it stays. Nobody has to spend a second dollar to climb.

  3. 3

    Defend it, or drift down

Earned points hold full value for 30 days - 6 months for a referred signup - and then they are gone. Not faded. Gone. Standing still costs you rank.

The exact numbers, and every limit around them, are in the rules.

Three decisions that hold it together

89 climbs are already defending a place

Take a position free, or from $10, then earn your way up it without spending again.

What you buy is permanent

Bought points never decay and are never taken back. You can be overtaken; you cannot be quietly deflated. A wall that erodes what people paid for is a subscription pretending to be a purchase.

What you earn burns down

If earned points lasted forever, the top would be whoever arrived first and the wall would be a museum by month three. Expiry is what keeps the ranking about now.

Everything is in public

Points, clicks, who sent whom, what is about to expire. The wall only works as an honest signal if the workings are visible, including the unflattering ones.

What a place actually buys

It does buy

  • A position people scroll past, above competitors who paid less.
  • Outbound clicks, counted honestly - once per person per day.
  • A public number attached to your name, and a reason to defend it.

It does not buy

  • An endorsement. Every listing is marked as user-submitted, not editorial.
  • A search result. Nothing here is a promise about what Google does next.
  • A rank you keep. Someone can always pay more, or earn harder.

Saying that plainly costs a few sales and is worth it. The alternative is a page that reads like a guarantee and a product that cannot be one.

"So it is just advertising"

Yes. Every rank above the bottom is paid for or earned, and a free listing has 90 days to earn its keep. Calling it anything other than advertising would be a worse start to a business relationship.

What makes it worth your money is the second half. You know what a rank costs before you take it, everyone reading knows how it was reached, and the part that is not for sale - the points you earn by actually sending people - is usually the part that decides who stays up there.

Someone is sitting at #4 on my leaderboard having paid me nothing. $0. Twenty-three points, all earned by sharing their link. They're ahead of people who paid.
