Person Schema Generator

This person schema generator creates Person JSON-LD for an author page, a speaker bio or a personal site. Fill in your name with any prefix or suffix, job title, description, website and photo, then add your employer, schools, memberships, awards, credentials, languages and the topics you know about. Profile buttons start sameAs rows for LinkedIn, X, GitHub, Wikipedia and more. Tick Wrap in ProfilePage to nest the Person in a ProfilePage with dates and follower counts, the markup Google documents for profile pages. Writers and consultants use it when their author page gives search engines nothing to connect. You can paste existing Person or ProfilePage markup to edit it. Only fields you fill are written.

Why Person Schema Generator

Example: an author page for a blog

A food blogger has an author page at example.com/about/maria. She ticks Wrap in ProfilePage, enters that URL with the date the page was created, and fills name Maria Lopez, job title Recipe developer, a two-sentence bio, a photo URL, her Instagram and YouTube profiles in Same as, and Knows about: baking, sourdough, meal prep.

The output is a ProfilePage with url, dateCreated and a mainEntity Person that holds the name, jobTitle, description, image, a sameAs array with two URLs and a knowsAbout array with three topics. Follower and post counts, if she adds them, become interactionStatistic and agentInteractionStatistic. Each recipe post's Article markup can then set author to a Person named Maria Lopez with url example.com/about/maria, so the posts and the profile point to the same person.

Put the ProfilePage block only on the author page itself, not on every post.

Common questions

What is ProfilePage schema and when should I use it?
ProfilePage is the markup Google documents for pages that focus on one person or organization, such as an author page on a news site or an about me page on a blog. Its mainEntity is the Person. Tick Wrap in ProfilePage when the whole page is about you; leave it off when Person markup sits on a page about something else.
Which fields does Person schema need?
Only a name is needed for the markup to make sense. For a ProfilePage, Google requires mainEntity with a name, and recommends dateCreated, dateModified, an image and sameAs links. The Validation panel shows a missing name as an error and a missing website, image, sameAs or job title as warnings.
What is knowsAbout in Person schema?
A list of topics the person has real expertise in, such as Technical SEO or Python. Type them separated by commas and each becomes an entry in the knowsAbout array. Keep it to subjects your published work supports.
What goes in the sameAs field of Person schema?
Profile URLs that are clearly you: LinkedIn, X, GitHub, a Wikipedia page, a speaker profile. Add one per row, or press a site button to start a row with its address. Leave out old profiles you no longer use.
Is a person schema generator the same as an author schema generator?
Yes, in practice. Schema.org has no Author type; an author is a Person that Article markup points to in its author property. The Person markup built here is what that author property should describe.
Where should Person schema go on my site?
On the one page that represents the person: an author page on a blog, or the about page of a personal site. Article markup on each post can then link to that page in the author url.
Does Person schema improve E-E-A-T?
Not directly. It makes facts about the author machine-readable, such as employer, profiles and topics, so they can be matched with other sources. The experience and expertise still have to show in the content itself.
Can I leave birth date and gender out of Person schema?
Yes, and most people should. Both are optional and have no effect on search features, and the tool reminds you when you fill birth date or phone. Publish only details you are happy to have permanently machine-readable.
How do I add awards and certifications to Person markup?
Add each award as a row under Awards; it is written to the award property. Add certifications, degrees or licences under Credentials with a type and the body that issued them, and each becomes an EducationalOccupationalCredential in hasCredential.
How does Person markup link to my employer?
Works for writes a worksFor property with an Organization node holding the company name and website, and Alumni of writes alumniOf as an EducationalOrganization for each school you list. If the company publishes its own Organization markup, search engines can connect the two.
