1. The Service
MathsTutor is an educational platform providing maths lessons, exercises, and progress tracking aligned with the UK National Curriculum from Key Stage 1 through GCSE (Key Stage 4). The Service is available via web browser and mobile applications.
2. Accounts
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
- You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
- One person per account — accounts are not transferable
- You may sign in using email/password or Google Sign-In
3. Children's Accounts
MathsTutor is designed for children aged 5 to 16. The following rules apply:
- Under 13: A parent or guardian must create the account and link it to their own parent account using our family linking feature. By doing so, the parent or guardian consents to the collection and use of the child's data as described in our Privacy Policy
- 13 to 17: Students may create their own accounts but we encourage parental oversight via family linking
- Parental controls: Parents can view their child's progress, manage settings, and request account deletion at any time
4. Subscriptions and Payments
- Premium plans are available on monthly or yearly billing cycles
- Payments are processed securely by Stripe — we never store your card details
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings — access continues until the end of the current billing period
- Multi-child discounts are applied automatically based on the number of children linked to your family account
- Prices are displayed in GBP and include VAT where applicable
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers
Refunds
If you are unsatisfied with the Service, contact us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. After this period, refunds are provided at our discretion on a case-by-case basis.
Affiliate Code Sign-ups
If you signed up using an affiliate or referral code, the standard refund policy above does not apply. Once your free trial ends and the first payment is taken, that payment is non-refundable. If you do not wish to continue, you may cancel from your account settings; your subscription will then not renew and access to the Service will stop at the next billing date.
5. Referral Programme
Our "Refer a Friend" programme lets existing users invite others to MathsTutor using a personal referral code or link. Both the person making the referral ("the referrer") and the person who signs up using their code ("the referred friend") can earn a reward, subject to the terms in this section.
What the referred friend gets
If you sign up using a valid referral code, your first month of a paid subscription is free — a 100% discount applied automatically to your first invoice at checkout. The discount applies once, to the first month only; normal pricing applies from your second month onwards. On that first invoice the referral discount replaces, and cannot be combined with, any multi-child or other promotional discount.
What the referrer gets
For each friend you successfully refer, you earn a reward credit of £9.99 — the value of one month on our lowest single-child plan. The credit is added to your MathsTutor billing account and is applied automatically against your next invoice. You do not need an active paid subscription to earn it: if you are on the free tier, the credit is held on your account and used when you next subscribe.
When the referrer's reward is granted
A referral reward is granted only after your referred friend has made their first real payment — that is, once their free first month has ended and their first full-price invoice has been paid successfully. No reward is granted when your friend signs up, nor during their free first month, nor on any invoice charged at £0. Each referral can generate a reward only once.
Ambassador tiers
As your number of successful referrals grows you earn Ambassador status, shown on your parent dashboard:
- Bronze (1–2 referrals): a recognition badge only — no additional credit
- Silver (3 referrals): a one-time bonus credit of £29.97
- Gold (5 referrals): a one-time bonus credit of £119.88
Each tier bonus is granted once only, at the point you reach the relevant number of paying referred friends. Your badge tier may update as soon as a referral qualifies, while the associated bonus credit is granted once the corresponding paid invoice has cleared.
Eligibility and fair use
- You may not refer yourself — sign-ups using your own code, or an account that shares your email address, do not qualify for any reward
- Referral and bonus credits have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to another account
- Reward amounts are set by us and may change from time to time; the amounts above reflect the programme at the date these terms were last updated
- We may withhold, withdraw, or reclaim referral rewards, or remove a participant from the programme, where we reasonably believe the programme is being abused or these terms are being breached
- We may modify or end the referral programme at any time, with notice where reasonably practicable
6. Free Tier
MathsTutor offers a free tier with daily exercise limits. Free access includes:
- Access to all key stages and topics
- A limited number of exercises per day
- Basic progress tracking
We may modify the free tier allowances at any time. Premium features such as unlimited exercises, full XP earning, and advanced difficulty levels require a paid subscription.
7. Acceptable Use

12. Termination

- By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with notice where reasonably practicable
- Effect: Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. We will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on our website at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
