Heartbreak for India as Oz advance to semis after goalless Hockey WC draw

Indian women’s Hockey World Cup campaign ended after Australia held them to a 0-0 draw and advanced to the semifinals on goals scored. Australia had two goals ruled out after reviews, while India missed key chances and penalty corners. Despite a strong second-half push and removing their goalkeeper late on, India could not find the winner and will now play for fifth place.

Hockey World Cup: India's semifinal hopes end after 1-3 loss to Netherlands

The defeat leaves India without a point in the second round. India had already lost to England in the first round, and even a victory against Argentina on Monday would take them to only three points. That will not be enough to reach the semifinals. India will instead play in the fifth-eighth place classification matches after their final second-round game against Argentina.
