Go for it. As long as the colors are limited to 4 on the screen at any given time then pico8 is fine. You can use the whole 128x128 if you wanted to. We try not to be overly strict to ensure the jam is accessible to as many people as possible; so as long as you can get close, you're golden.

I mean, it was pretty obvious. While a lot of us aren't okay with AI, the hosts can do whatever they want which is why I never said anything.

For keyboard controls I generally use arrow keys for dpad, z and x for A and B, enter for start and shift for select. wasd feels kind of awkward personally. Though it wouldn't hurt to have a left-handed layout too; for that you could use wasd.

I don't see why not. There's no restriction on the genre, so go nuts.

Do you have a youtube or twitch showcasing your art creation process?

Then maybe don't advertise it as "Perfect for action platformers". Platformer characters need both feet symmetrically planted on the ground or it looks jank.

'twas already answered here
In short: No, you can't.

Not only is this pack well organized, it's authentic chiptune (not fakebit) and excellently composed. Only wish I had found this gem sooner.
Thank you!

Hey thanks! You're right, Lost Shrine was a fairly newer addition and I forgot to add it to the zip. I've attached it is a separate download

You should take your own advice before commenting :)

This is incredible. Had it streaming this afternoon while coding and drawing assets. Thanks for sharing it! Have a beer on me (or whatever beverage you desire)

Do you have any examples of the models, or just these unmistakably AI generated previews?

Watching this project closely and waiting for Linux support >.>

Personally I'd avoid treading on existing IPs. I doubt the company who owns it will come after your jam game, but it's still better to use original work. You may even want to expand on it after the jam and sell it. You can't do that if you're using copyrighted assets in a universe that is not your own.

These look more like 16x16 rather than 64x64. Though some of the tiles are 16x17 and 16x18 (the single row platform). Was the 64x64 a typo or am I missing something?

Had trouble with this one too. You need to find a way to slingshot yourself really high when you come through the green teleporter by building up your fall speed into the red teleporter.

Unless you're okay with this (UK is completely blocked off)

"Bandcamp, in case you hate Spotify". We need more people like you in the world.

Whatever you feel like supporting, but at a MINIMUM I would include an executable for windows. Personally I usually release .exe and AppImage (linux). I could care less about Mac.

anyone else see the perfect symmetry of itch and scratch?

Preview link is broken

Appreciate the reply. The "Show content marked as adult in search & browse" option was already disabled. Your suggestion to add a bookmark is a good idea, so I'll roll with that for now. Thanks.

I've brought this up before, but nothing ever came of it. I let it go, but as AI content is flooding the platform right now I feel like it's important as ever to make No AI a default filter.
I forgot to turn the filter on the other day in "New & Popular" assets, and was greeted with anime feet packs and a waifu having a*al s*x as clear as day. Further down was 20+ low-effort uploads all from one user - all gen AI content. I'm sorry, but it's getting absurd.
For people's safety, the No AI filter should be enabled by default, because they are releasing some extremely graphic content.

Many thanks,
Polter

Yeah I'm pretty sure you're breaking rules with both coolmath and itch by doing that. If you agree to enter, your submission becomes their property, so you're more than likely violating certain laws by restricting their access or remotely controlling the game.
You think you're being smart, but you're really not.

I know you're capable of real art, which is why it pains me to see you resorting to AI lately. That's an unfollow from me.

This was answered by the host in another thread. Their reply was: "The no AI-generated content is to prevent any AI-generated assets within the game including art, writing, sound, and code.". So yes, it absolutely applies to code generated by LLMs/AI.

Let's be real for a second, if you're using AI you're a curator, not a developer. Also, they've answered this in another post:
"The no AI-generated content is to prevent any AI-generated assets within the game including art, writing, sound, and code."

Thanks! That's very flattering coming from a fan of hollow knight :D

See, this is where it gets confusing. The jam host also said this, and I quote: "All entrants in the team must be US residents. If a team is selected as a winner, they will have to sign an affidavit and tax documentation, which is why the contest is for US residents only."

I'd accept 10 $1k amazon gift cards if that's easier ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Naw I don't sorry. But I always use the LÖVE framework. They have a super helpful discord and nice community if you wanted to check it out!

Absolutely! I need to get into a habit of adding a license, but you're totally free to use these commercially and non-commercially. Credit isn't necessary but always welcome.

Hey no problem. How's that preview going?

Hi there. I noticed you have a lot of audio assets but no previews. Do you have an online portfolio or some demos so people know what they are buying? Thanks!

Thanks! I'm glad it could bring back some fond memories!

Glad to hear it. I'm fabulous ty!

Thank you! Hope you're doing well :)
