Something seems a lil broken? The first chest next to where you start contains three "up"s, a "berserker blade of something" with "flavor text", and pressing A or D moves your character behind the pop-up window. I'm unsure how it's supposed to work, but this probably isn't it?
edit: after a few more attempts, it seems chests are the only thing that's broken, combat works fine.
