Absolute scam

Absolute scam. Went through their application process and never even heard back from them and I know for a fact I did really good. Don't trust this absolute scam

Big waste of time

Tl;dr: Ignore all the nonsense about how much you can earn per hour, you're unlikely to earn anything at all.

Recently had this company pointed out as a "work from home" opportunity by Google's Gemini. So I signed up. Took a few days to be accepted, which they say is rare.

If that's true, I wonder how they get any work done at all. After I was accepted I got one paying job assigned, which was in a different "dialect" (in this case from a different country), which I passed up on because I wanted to deliver max quality. That might've been a mistake, as that was the last paying job I was assigned.

It's been several weeks, I worked several hours on unpaid assignments to prove my quality, but I've gotten zero jobs for it. One initial entry assignment was paid, so I've made ten whole bucks from all this effort! How will I spend all this money I've made from DataAnnotation?!

But seriously, what a joke. If I did something wrong, tell me. If you don't have enough work, just let me know. But this silent death stuff, it's just embarrassing. What a waste of time!

Unable to Contact Support Regarding Payout Issue

I have been using DataAnnotation and currently have over $1,290 in my account balance.

Unfortunately, I have encountered a payout issue that I have been unable to resolve.

PayPal has confirmed that Ukrainian PayPal accounts cannot receive U.S. business payouts, which prevents me from withdrawing my earnings.

I contacted DataAnnotation support and was initially communicating with a support representative. However, I have now been waiting for nearly two weeks without any response.

In addition, emails sent to support dataannotation.tech are currently failing because the mail server does not accept connections, making it impossible to open a new support request.

I am not claiming that my funds have been lost. My balance is still visible in my account, and I simply need assistance with changing my payout method or arranging an alternative payout.

If someone from the DataAnnotation team reads this review, I would greatly appreciate it if you could review my support case or contact me at my registered email address.

Thank you.

You may randomly get 'fired' with no further contact

My time working with DataAnnotation was incredible. The pay rate was great, the work was great, and everything was pretty clear and intuitive, with clear support channels.

The company is far too transparent, however, with one's quality of work. Never had I received feedback or messages about my quality, and one day, my account was put on hold without any explanation. It's also incredibly hard to reach out to DataAnnotation or whoever owns the company afterward, if not impossible, so I would definitely not consider this something to rely on for a living.

They stole my more than 1600 $

They stole my earnings of more than 1600 dollars. I was working in dataannotation.tech for more than four months. Since I always do high-quality works, I always get some bonuses and special tasks for the high quality workers. I was always so careful about reporting my working hours because I believe the money that is earned with lies cannot bring you happiness. How careful I was that I did not count even one minute when I went to the bathroom. I was checking the platform if there were tasks available. While I was checking this text appeared "After careful review of your account activity, we have detected multiple attempts to defraud our payment system." I was shocked because I never even tried to do that kind of thing. This was completely lie and slander. I had more than 1300 dollars on my account, they seized that money. Since I do not have PayPal account, I could not save my money. 800 dollars were approved, but they did not pay even that 800 dollars. THEY CLEARLY STOLE THEM. Never trust this platform. As I mentioned I was a high quality worker, but this does not mean anything for them. They ghosted my several times, even though I wanted them to deposit my approved money.

SCAM! Do not use!

Stole hours of my time for zero compensation. I spent hours doing onboarding, getting qualifications etc. This was all unpaid stuff prior to getting any paid work (supposedly). I received positive feedback. I passed everything. Then, I logged on this morning and "Your account is currently unavailable for new projects due to work below our customers' quality bar or a violation of our Terms of Service.". This is the screen of death. There is no appeal process, no explanation, nothing you can do. I hadn't even completed a single paying job so I can't have submitted "low quality work". I hadn't violated any TOS. They just randomly decided to drop me without warning. Looking on reddit, I'm not the only one. Don't waste your time.

Be very cautious...no support when you need it.

Unfortunately they promise a lot of work after passing qualifications. Which can take dozens of hours if done correctly. My issue is that although I passed several qualifications, my account now says "Your account is currently unavailable for new projects due to work below our customers' quality bar or a violation of our Terms of Service." with no way of contacting support or asking why this happened.

Scam - Don't waste your time

Took 3 weeks for them to review the assessments they provide. I get it, you have a lot of volume, but how about you use some of that AI and speed things along? Maybe lower your expectations when applying because 4 months in and my home screen still has 0 projects, you can't even email support. I wouldn't recommend applying here even to my worst enemy.

Complete waste of time

Complete waste of time. I signed up and spent the hours doing the unpaid tasks to qualify to do their projects, I did hours of the qualifications for free in order to get more projects and in the 2 months I've been signed up, I've only had 3 x 1 hour projects sent to me. I've messaged the support team multiple times to try and understand why this is happening but I haven't had a single response.

They will make you work for free

They will make you work for free, it’s a scam. I worked a couple hours and suddenly got banned from working on projects for no reason and with no explanation. I still have APPROVED earnings on my account which they are not allowing me to withdraw. They don’t even have any way of contacting them to raise tickets to. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I strongly do not recommend. Outlier ai, although very inconsistent with projects is a better platform that actually pays their contributors.

Tried to sign up via indeed

Tried to sign up via indeed. Was able to create an account but unable to go any further than that in the process. I waited months, and tried again. I applied for a different RN AI position, was able to login to my initial DA account and was prompted to take a test. I passed the very generic non-clinical test was prompted to take a generic non-clinical test, for which I was never notified if I had passed (or failed). Its been a couple of weeks and I have yet to hear from anyone. So, I have basically wasted two hours of my time with nothing to show for.

Banned from the platform after onboarding

I applied after getting recommendations after getting kicked off another platform. I finished all 3 onboarding tasks, as well as a few qualifications tests such as for advanced mathematics. The next day, I was automatically banned from the platform without explanation. I felt my responses were clear cut and to the point. I didn't add much opinion but instead stuck to the factual content as was asked in a lot of tasks. I've emailed support and have not heard back in a week.

Moving like a survey platform

Good start until it became like a glorified paid survey platform. They oversaturate the platform and the months of May to August it becomes flooded with students, so don’t expect to make anything more than $100 a week. They also preach that you can make up to $1,000 per week but will find any reason to drop you if you begin making that kind of money. It’s most certainly not ideal for working professional, individuals with families, or even someone just seeking full time work.

Unprofessional Hiring Process and No Response

They are advertising that they are looking for experienced programmers. I took the ~3 hour coding test and passed 100%, with very detailed explanations of exactly which functions were wrong and why, and which were correct and why. I even wrote a full, relatively time-consuming Go function to solve a stupid puzzle (they preferred Python, bit Go was allowed). This was easy stuff for me, given my 20 years of experience in this field.

Yet, after two weeks, I still have not heard back from them. So it is a big 1 star review from me. This company wasted around three hours of my time, and that is unacceptable. At the very least, they should say why I was rejected, because I know it was not because of my answers or my code.

Either they already have enough workers and forgot to turn off their ads, or they simply do not care. You cannot waste three hours of someone’s time and then just ignore them. It is pretty sad if this is the norm now.

Over $1,000 in approved earnings stolen – Account closed with zero support

My account was suddenly closed without any explanation, and DataAnnotation is now withholding over $1,000 of my approved earnings.

This money was for work already completed and verified by the platform before the suspension. It has been over a month, and I have sent multiple emails regarding my funds, but support completely ignores me.

Closing an account is one thing, but keeping money for work already done is wage theft. Be very careful working for this platform—you can lose all your earned income overnight with zero recourse.

Banned with reason

Banned almost instantly without reason. Didn't use AI, worked on only 1 project at a time, and didn't run the clock out to get paid more. Still very confused on how I got banned

they ban if you have law questions

it was all ok right until i asked if it is legal in EU to collect sensitive data with AI as project requested exactly data from location, camera etc... which is considered in EU dangerous and should have permissions for that, instead of communication, cleanness and openness they simply banned me. I hope their clients and in particular Google and Gemini who exactly wanted the access for sensitive data will think twice if they want a scandal with eu law.
