On the occasion of World Tiger Day 2026, Mr. Soumitra Dasgupta, Director (Program), International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), joined the DD Morning Show to highlight the importance of international cooperation in securing the future of the world's big cats.

He emphasized the ecological significance of tigers as apex predators and acknowledged the Government of India's sustained conservation efforts, which have resulted in the remarkable recovery of the country's tiger population.

Highlighting the need for collective global action, he reiterated the pivotal role of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) in fostering international partnerships, facilitating knowledge exchange, building capacity, and promoting collaborative conservation initiatives to strengthen tiger conservation and restore critical habitats across big cat range countries.
